From what I have been reading, Grey-Banded kingsnakes are quite common in the pet trade but I can't find any Canadian breeders.

Does anyone know of any breeders working with these?

I have a nice pair that will hopefully be breeding in the new year.

There are a few Canadian breeders as well....

http://www.cranwill.com/ - Tim Cranwill has some...not sure about availability...and a couple others on this website, I am sure they will reply.

Rob at Global Exotics would be a local place to start. He had the most gorgeous Alterna, and it might still be there since he's got an Alterna on his December price list. I was 'this close' to buying it earlier but had my heart set on a hognose instead.

I would say Mark and Mairsa for next year. I have had a few snags in my GB project. It will happen, just not in 2005. :)

I hope it will be me next year! LOL. My pair is proven and doing well but I never count chickens before they hatch. :D

I am really excited about the babies that might come from my pair though, I must say. I am obviously already planning on keeping a couple back for myself. :D

I forgot about Gonesnakee! *gasp* I have seen some pics and he has really nice alterna!

WOW! Thanks for the great response. Beagle and I were hunting for a pair at the Sept Port Credit Expo but didn't find anything.

I am hoping (fingers crossed) to hit Global Exotics and Port Credit this weekend but I would prefer to buy from a breeder. I am hoping to find a nice Blairi but some of the alterna are great looking snakes too so perhaps that one from Global will be mine. :) Thanks Hilde. I have seen them listing that fellow since August(?) so with any luck it is still there.

Henry P. had a pair of proven breeders up for sell early this year. Did you beat us to them Marisa?

Thanks again everyone,
Adam

Isbell and Crannie. Good guys to deal with. Ugly, and they smell a bit, but they are still good guys.

The Gillards out of Cambridge are working with some awsome alterna phase greybands... I believe they should have some this up comming season... Blairs are pretty common up here not many working with the alterna phase though... good luck with your search...

Definitely talk to Mark if you're looking for blair's phase (and hopefully Marisa :)). Joe beat me to mentioning the Gillard's -- they'll hopefully have some alterna phase greybands available this year, I'm hoping to pick up a pair myself :) I know a lot of people prefer the blair's phase with the wide orange bands, but I much prefer the alterna phase personally.

Best of luck in your search.

THX everyone for mentioning me, some more than others LOL I am working with a group of 2.4 adult blairs (every specimen is totally unrelated to one another) & expect 7 or 8 clutches next year (touch wood). My 3 older females double clutch every year (46 babies 2003 & 62 babies 2004) & I expect 1 if not 2 clutches from my younger female. I'm in the process of working on some Albinos too, but that will be another couple years or so yet. There should be lots next summer/fall anyway, Mark IsBell :p
