It's common in Brasil to kill snakes on sight. I think that's where the action took place.
I hate it too. At least in remote parts of Africa and Asia, big snakes are killed for meat and skin. There's a purpose.
But it seems that in Brasil snakes are killed so that they have a story to tell by the fireplace.

To make matters worse, there smileing. What i would give to wipe them smug smerks of there faces. One reason why i won't be able to travel to brazil and other places like such is by the end of the vacation i would be tried with 2 counts of murder. But i would have to say thats a 20 footer aswell.

LOL, Carlito, i guess they don't with all that heat. Ok, make it " a story to tell while they drink cachaça", hehe. And by that time the snake was already 50 feet long and friends are going WOW.

you know what take a moment to think how you have been raised if you lived there if you had kids would you not fear for the safety of them

i dont like it either but at the same time id want my family to be safe and i dont think your gonna be able to relocate an animal of that size very easily

If you fear the wildlife where you live, move out somewhere. Killing a snake isn't gonna change anything, you'll always have another one to kill.

U also have to remember that most of those countries are 3rd world countries. People cannot just pickup and move whenever they feel like.

Let's face it. Most of the reasons that these people kill those big snakes are not because of self-protection or any of that. It's mere amusement...
but i'm sure they JUSTIFY it with that, saying that snakes are evil, they have to die. But in fact those snakes are an important part of the ecossystem.
I'm sure there's way more chances that a Jaguar will hunt a person than a snake will, but people are not allowed to kill Jaguars in Brasil because they are protected. Since there's still many Anacondas around (but going down) they are not protected like the Jaguar is. And that only proves the stupidity of Human nature, wich is "when there's none left, THEN we'll start worrying."

Another subject: I read something on the newspaper about a very big anaconda found a few days ago. Is there more on that? Does anybody know anything?
