today is feeding da around the house and my retic is still having trouble feeding. Her strike response is alot better then it was but she still just hit, and lets go. Iv noticed that if you offer it once, she'll hit let go, then I dangle it for alittle but as she is backing up and she may hit it again but never coils. Give her about 15min to calm down and do it again, same thing happends. Hit, let go. I feed her in her 55gl long tank and remove everything besides a half log for her to hide under if she so chooses, (I figure regaurdless of her size she wont ever be on both sides at once and eventualy she will put "removing things from tank=feeding)

So, any advice? is it that she is just young? I dont personaly see how this could be seeing how snakes dont learn to feed, they just know it. All my other snakes have been wonderful feeders and always eat when offered. Her tank stays at a temp ~92 with a humidity of around 65-85% depending on the time of the day.

Iv offered live, which this time and the last time she has hit. last time she hit it twice and on the second time coiled and ate it. the first time she ate was on a prekilled. This time she has hit at it live, then I broke the rat's spine because it was just to wild, hoping everywhere. But now it's dead and when I just tried again while writing this post she ludged, struck and backed off. But it wasnt realy a territory strke because you could tell, the way she held back for a second, then went out with about a 1/4 of her length.

someone help please. Update on the peeing on me is she has finaly stoped that, she may be in the strating stages of sheding but I realy dont think that will mak a huge difference at this point in time.

What youa re descriding are defensive strikes not a feeding response. I would not remove everything from the cage this maybe stressing the snake out. Have you tried just leaving the pre-killed pry item in over night some retics can be shy, especially if you havn't had it long or it's WC.

What are the temps in the cage? Is she WC or CBB? How long have you had her? What are you trying to feed her?

It sounds like what D J N has discribed. Are you letting go of the feeder as soon as she strikes. If so! try hanging on to it and if she actually grabs it, Make her work for it like it were still alive. then if she coils it up let it go.
I had to do this with my Burm before.

Left it in over night. Still there, hasnt touched it. Im just going to starve it now and if it feels the need to eat, it will. Im not going to pressure it into something it doesnt want to do.

thanks for the help

Oh the temps are alwasy in the lower 90's like 92-95 on the hot end and in the lower 80's on the cool/water end. Iv had her sence october when I got her from a reptile show and they told me she was captive bred/hatched but they didnt seem to know that much about the parents when I asked them so I and suspect, they also told me it was a yellow head yet it's still tan.

Iv tried lived, pre killed, and f/t. Jst seems to never be hungry. it doesnt seem to be stressed, just acting like a snake.

mouth is 100& in tip top shape, the whole snake is infact. I may bring it to the reptile dealer who I usualt get my snakes from, Im pretty sure my vet wont know jack about snakes. (family vets are like that ya know?) but I'll give it a try.

alright, new information. Under her jaw there is two marks, like where scales have been removed. Not sure what thats from but it doesnt look ike mouth rot.

Also she is now getting noticibly thin. Like the size of my pinky thin. and for a retic over a month in age Im guessing this isnt what she should be looking like. temps and humid. are all where they should be. Im guessing that maybe she isnt a healthy animal. Im taking her into my local reptile store to get her checked out tomorrow.

wish her luck.
