Heres a pic I pulled up off of kingsnake. Crazy stuff, eh?
Hatchling King Cobras

I guess ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chances eh? Seriously though there is little point getting in an uproar everytime someone does something seriously stupid, I just wish they'd have the common sense not to post photos of it online.

hey JD, from which user (in kingsnake) did u get the pix from? that picture right there showed a set up that is to familiar to me. It is a shop of a reptile trader in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (notice the bread package on the right, it's malaysian made bread). i go there everyweek.
My 45 yr old Chinese friend hatched that clutch in March 2004 and sold 50 babies to the trader. They were 54 babies all together. from the pix, it seems that most of them had been sold. the trader's kept telling everybody who walks into the store that the babies (kingcobra), which were all about 2 weeks old don't bite. he (trader) added that the babies only develop the instinct to bite after about 1 to 2 months of age. is that true??? (i didn't touch any)....i love my life too much....

Well someone talk to this joker in a month or two and see if he's still alive. Regardless, it looks like good fun!

Now that I have paid more attention to the newspaper substrate in the photo.. the text is defnitely not in English (except of course for the word Sillicon of course). If this is the case.... I am relieved that the North American press cannot hold that aganst any North American keepers when buddy gets bitten.

So by the seller's logic..... these snakes must not eat for the first two months of life? Because.. they have no instinct to bite.... right??? Sounds a little loopy to me.

Well, the photo was posted on KS classifieds by a U.S. dealer, not just a forum browser...while it's possible he used someone elses pic, it's not very likely.
Someone on a different forum mentioned that they thought the hand looked like it belonged to a well-known SI guy...I have an idea of who he meant, but I'm not going to name names.
In any case, I don't think photos like that should be publicly displayed, it just leads to bad stuff happening.

If so its on a bunch of sites already. I know what you mean about not being able to link things though.

You'd think that after the first 8,000 times of trying to link to it over the past two plus years, you'd stop trying to do it and stop wondering why it's not working... :p

why keep on blocking it? it only adds more attention to the site. and make people wonder whats behind all those stars.
After almost three years, I think everyone KNOWS what's behind all those stars.. I also think that everyone know's why the KS Links are blocked.. If you still don't know why, try doing a site search for the reason, there's about 20 threads that explain why.

i cant really remember. im not going to bother looking it up. its probably because they do that to you and i think your names, right? well who cares, convenience your members and get rid of that stupid block. if everyone on this site already knows what it links to, why even bother doing it?

Well, as long as YOU guys think its dumb...
We can't do anything about it right now, mods don't have the ability to mess around with the site's word-blocker dealie.
And even so...if you're too lazy to read up on why it's there, why should we change it?
A moderator calling the members names !!! That is sad.
I think most of us know why it is there and most of us think it is childish.
But not nearly as bad as mods calling us lazy and using that as an excuse.
Jayson, I agree. I don't see why it is implied that any member is lazy based upon their attitude towards blanking out another site. As far as business goes, KS is far from competetive with this website in regards to the Canadian market. Also, It looks as though this site is speeding up somewhat in regards to the US market. So, I too think it's quite childish and annoying to constantly see blanked out words when most of us know exactly what it is.

Isn't this site purley dedicated to Forums? Kingsnake not only has forums but many other options to it, i don't see a need for competition or censorship, one is the most popular site for Forums the other alittle or everything i suppose. I find it very childish.
HeatherRose

I was talking about this:
i cant really remember. im not going to bother looking it up.
It wasn't a shot at anyone in particular, but I apologize...
Again, there is nothing that can be done about it right now...and it's there for a reason if it was implemented in the first place.
LOL, let's not turn this into an argument guys.. I think Heather was directing that comment at Jordan.. While im sure Jordan took no offence to it, as I hope he knew it wasn't meant as insult or anything else.
As far as the link being un-blocked from the site, I'm not really sure how I feel about it.. While I understand why it is, I also understand why maybe it shouldn't be. The problem with that though, is that none of the Moderators have control over what words are blocked and what words aren't, that is an administration issue, so if you guys feel that strongly about it, the best we can do, is take it up with Admin and hope they feel the same way as you guys..
So, until then, the links will unfortunatly still be blocked out and you lazy bums will have to cut and paste and delete and add to the link to get it to work.. :D
I'll keep you guys updated on the progress though..

I wasn't going to say anything about the comment, as I know my criticism is sometimes taken really harshly - but I'm glad it was brought up.
Matt, can't Alien make these kind of changes to the sight? I realize this kind of change would used to require Jeff's approval, but I think the mods could make a decision and just do it.
Ssnakess.com and that other one are the 2 largest forums going. Many of ssnakess.com members don't partake in the other forum, but I think most people agree that being able to link to many things on that sight would be convenient, and an improvement to this sight.
Just my 2 cents though, and I'm trying to give it in an appropriate way (this time)
Ryan
Ryan, why exactly would 'Alien' be able to make these changes?? He's a Moderator, just like myself, just like Heather, just like Linds and all the other Moderators..
Yes, we Moderator's could come to the conclusion that we want those links to be allowed, but how do you propose we implement the change?? We have basic Moderator abilities, we don't have Administrator abilities, if we did, im sure it would be changed already..

I had thought, for some reason, that Alien was brought on the team partially because, and so, he could make some technical changes to the sight (like adding the buttons on top), while Jeff was not around to do it. I realize I was probably mistaken, and that there are probably 20 or so threads I should have searched for to find my answer before saying anything :)
BTW, your question mark button seems to be repeating again.
Off to play with snakes...
Ryan
Nope, he was brought on as a moderator, nothing more nothing less.. The buttons up top were put up by Jeff... :D

Like I mentioned before, While I understand where you guys are coming from, I also see where Jeff stands in having the site blocked. Again, yes, we Mod's could vote on it and all agree that it be changed, but ultimatly, this is Jeff's site and if he doesn't feel it should be changed, it's really none of our business to say otherwise..
The site has been run this way for the better part of three years now and while we've had a few people complain about it every so often, most people just respect that it's in place and go on about their surfing without it being much of an issue.. I know that I can live without seeing KS links, I don't even go to the site. However, if you guys do feel so strong about it, I'll bring it up with the other Mod's and try and get in touch with Jeff on it and see what they all have to say..

I think that the biggest problem with the reptile community is the separation..... I know that KS is the biggest offender...... I think it is good that this site blocks them in a way though..... I know on my site, I will allow most sites to advertise their site for nothing...... I will be more than happy to add a link on my site for ssnakess.com free of charge ofcorse but a site like KS I will hesitate and would never OFFER to give them an ounce of space on my site...... Now if they were willing to pay I might change my mind.....LOL.....
I feel the reptile community should be as one and not go against eachother...... Differance in opinion is fine and even alittle argument is cool too, but KS takes it to the extream so why should anyone give them any slack....... The admin of this site has his reasons and I can see why he does it...... This site does not need KS links to make it any better....... I enjoy it the way it is...... But I can also see why others might think it is childish and annoying....... My point is, I have no point...... Just speaking my mind.....
Thanks for your post Greg...it's how I feel as well.
There are reasons this site and quite a few others block THAT other site. And while it maybe that some of you find it childish and annoying there ARE reasons so for now I guess the best advice is to chalk it up to a mere annoyance and go on with your normal enjoyment of the site. :D

It would be very nice to be able to show people who ask, what a mojave x mojave looks like, what the new "black dragon" monitor lizards look like, or point out, or quote, an old discussion that clears up snake genetics, or point out and then ridicule people doing foolish things with venomous reptiles. Just 4 things in the last few weeks I've noticed that would have been beneficial to be able to link too. Not being able to is a hinderance to the sight IMO.
Ssnakess.com has evolved much since the time that the link was blocked. The original reason was kind of petty, and doesn't serve any beneficial purpose at this time, that I can see.
Now, off to play with some turtles, caimens, monitors and fish

Oh, you are right Matt!
I think what actually happened is that it visually cut down what we could see of the link so that it would not be too overwhelmng in terms of length. It actually then would have nothing to do with what s being debated then :)
As for queensnake, crapsnake.com or whatever we feel like calling it, I can completely understnad the reasoning for the admin's policy. There is no need for a free plug for
crapsnake.com, though Ryan from Scales Zoo does have a good point.
Still, it is quite easy to "fill in the blanks" anyway.
It is like saying "the F word" ........ we all know what that really means right?

Very good point Tanith. I was going to mention that babies CAN but rarely do bite when gently handled, but I did not want to appear to be taking the side of the person handling in that pic.
See... life does have a way of eliminating bad genes...cute little babies too.

EDIT: Just wanted to clarify that I assumed you were talking about C. scutulatus...didn't realize that you could have been talking about mojave phase ball pythons...which I have no idea whether the offspring come out looking like mojaves or some other morph.
