What do you think of this temp gun for $30.00 shipped?

I use a digital thermostat with probe in each cage, I place the probe on the hot spot on the substrate and the thermostat on the cool side up on the wall.

I was finally thinking of getting a temp gun and wanted to know any reviews, pros and cons on this item?

I have the older version of it. It works well for me. I just need rought temp measurements. If you need precise temps you are going to have to get a more expensive infrared laser temp gun.

Temp guns last a long time, I think if you can afford the extra money get a Raytek mini with a laser.... much more user friendly IMO.

this is the one i bought from the show.... i love it.... its got a feature where you can set it to view a certian point and it will turn off automaticly after 30 min... its great for measureing your hot spot to see what your max and min are.... the instant readings are great

I got the PE temp gun also and it's been great for spot checking temps in my racks and cages. I think they are well worth 25 or 30 bucks.

SSCALES:

I use this type from a car shop, before all these new styles came up but soon I will evolve to the new design.

I bought a PE-1 and it's great! The more money you spend, the more likely you are to get a good quality tool but this little unit will do the trick for 95% of keepers. :)

The display on the raytek is in a better position, you can hold the button down and move the laser around to see the temps at the back of the cage without having to click, pull the temp gun back and look.

Not to mention that you can use rechargable 9V batteries with a raytek, instead of those little disk batteries.... Save the environment! LOL!

Its worth the extra bucks....
