Ok I had one of my babies hatch yesterday. All was great it actually shed yesterday too, was active and was good and fine untill this morning. I went to check on it and see how it faired during the night and it's gone. I had my mom "helping" (more of standing in the middle of the room clutching her hands praying it doesn't eat her) and my sister helping me look for it the problem is it's only 2" with the tail maybe, and my room is 13' by like 10' type thing. Anyone have any ideas on how to find this baby?? Your one day old and your lost in this . . .

Usually, whenever I had a gecko escape in the past, I would find it either under my bed or behind a dresser or bookcase. By the looks of your room, behind the cabinets, your window sill, and possibly behind/under your bed will be your best bets. However, if you can't find the little one with the lights on, try turning them off for half an hour and then going in with a flashlight. Best of luck, I know it can be a little stressful!

I hope you find it. I lost mine like that too, she wasn't far from the cage thought, thats where I would check, in fact she was still on the bottom side of the desk when I found her the next day. Check the immediate vicinity of the cage and move outward from there. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

I would also look behind things hangin on the wall, these guys are arboreal, and things like that are like bark and leaves in nature, nice tight dark hiding spots. A little guy like that could hide in a number of places.

Good Luck, thats going to be like finding a needle in a haystack. How did it escape?

Last night I had a little gecko leap from my hands and run under my dresser. Thank GOODNESS she couldn't get behind it, I'd never have gotten her out. My advice for you is to look HIGH up. Maybe leave little things of CDG out just so it can eat while it's lost and stay healthy.
Good luck finding it!!
It's a new hatchling so there's a very good chance it's on the floor somewhere. It probably found a good place to curl up and hide/sleep, since that's pretty much all they do for the first day or two. Just be careful when you move furniture, last year I forgot to re-seal my incubation rubbermaid and I noticed a hatchling was missing. I searched high and low and finally noticed a tail peeking out from inside the castor/wheel of the cabinet the rubbermiad was on... if I had moved the cabinet the little guy would have been paste... so yeah, look in tight places near the floor and double check before you move anything.
Good luck.

I spent all day looking everywhere. The problem is that my room is kinda not done well. It has a gap between the floor (COLD cement) and the base board, and I can't see under it. It also has a gap between the roof and the top of the wall. Oh and I have a cat that lives in my room. I have NO idea how it got out. The only thing I can figure out is that there was a vent thing missing I didn't notice it, but it seems too small for it to get out of. I'm guessing that how it got out though. I plan on leaving some baby food out for it so maybe in a few months we'll find it fat and healthy. The cage it was in for the night was on top of the big pink kinda one (my uro cage), the one in the second pic. I move EVERYTHING on that side. I checked under it all then moved it to look behind it all, Nothing. I doubt it'll leave my room because I have a space heater keeping it warm in there. Well thanks everyone, I'll let you know when I find it (crosses fingers).

I suggest that you remove your cat from your room or he/she'll find the crestie before you and its possible that your cat has already found the crestie and made short work of it. Best of luck.

When i lost my crestie, i found it 2 weeks later..so dont worry!
I'm not trying to worry you, but hatchlings don't last very long at all without water... it's probably a good idea to keep the search going and find it asap. The longer it's out, the more time it has to end up in a bad situation.

Sorry about your situation and I wish you luck. Try leaving some plants frequently misted and a tray full of wet paper towel and babyfood. If this is any comfort a lot of my hathlings don't eat their first meal until two weeks. But sadly water is a must. I hope you find her and if it's meant to be you will find your gecko! If not it could have happened to anyone.

Well there has been no sign of it. I'm not totally convinced that my cat got it because she has NEVER gone after any of my animals. I have a baby skink jump out of my hand land right in front of my cat she looked at and then went right back to sleep. Didn't even pay attention to it. I will make sure to leave a little tray of water or something just in case it is still around.

Just because your cat didnt go for your skink once doesnt mean it wont go for your baby crestie. I'd keep looking and leave multiple water trays lying around. Good Luck

Oh I know she might have gone after it. I was just pointing out that she knows that my lizards are off limits, but she is a cat so there is a 50/50 chance she either ate it or left it alone. I have lots of tray of water out so if it's still in there, it'll have water. I also have some of food too just in case. But there has been no sightings so who knows, it's a big house.

JUST had an idea ! Did you look under things, Imean like the underside of tables and dressers, like the white cage in your room. ALSO what about under the rims on containers, mybe that would be a good hidy spot.

NO she is a smart cat. She gets a smack on the butt and sprayed with the water. I trained her. And yes I do know that she is a cat and that she might still go after them, but I have spent years training her. Everything is for sale, yes I have to sell them. And I have looked under everything. I have spent the last few days looking under everything.

Hmmmm......i dont care if its 10 and youve disciplined it since it was born. Its still a cat, it still has instincts, it WILL go after a running lizard on the ground.
What about Sigfried and Roy? Those cats are trained for years, he turns around, gets dragged off the freaking stage.
Your cat is smart, but its instinct will over-power it.
Keep the cat out, and find the crestie........
Are you looking at night or the day? Hvae you looked in the clothes in your closet? Maybe it's clinging on in there? When it gets dark, look, turn off the lights for an hour, look and repeat this till ya go to bed.

I never checked my clothes good idea. I have done the light off thing, I have the black light and used that for the past few nights. I can't keep my cat out. She lives in my room her food, water, litter everything is in there. I have kicked her out for a few hours and looked without her in there. But I can't move her stuff because I'm not allowed, part of the reason I have to sell everything. I need my own place and can't afford a place that will let me keep my lizards, cat and dog. I know she very well might have eaten it, but based on past experiences with her, I'd trust her more then just any cat. Anyway that cat is not the issue. I asked for ways to find my baby. I know she is lessening the chances of finding it, but for now I can't do anything about it. As for Sigfried and Roy the cat was protecting him, it thought he was injured.

No nothing. I didn't think I'd find given the size of the room and all the cracks it could have gone into. But I do still leave food and water out for it and still look everyday for it, just not as hard as the first few days. I still have hope it's still alive.
