i wish i could help you out bud... i can find any myself....
Oh I read your post wrong. I thought you already had them.
I would be hesitant on purchasing if they are wild caughts. This species along with all the other Bradypodian species from South Africa have been banned from export for many years. If they are wild caught they have been smuggled.
The link Brandy sent worked for me.

The jist of what Carl was trying to say is this is a very rare species which most have done poorly with long term. They've been banned from export from SA without scientific collection permits for years and are esentially nonexistant legally in the US (and I doubt Canada). I too would be very interested to hear where this petstore is and if they truly have damanaranum. If they do, I'd make sure they went to a very experienced breeder for the best chance of getting more into the market. Have you seen them yet? Go to www.adcham.com then click "species profiles and taxonomy" at the top. Then click "Species Profile Database" and go down to Bradypodion damanaranum and click the little note pad icon. If you have been to the store, you should be able to tell if that is what they are. Please let us know.

ok i call and got them to spell out the name and they said it was kenyan dwarf.. so i can only assume that it was a knysna.... but ya.. the pic looks pretty close... they didnt know anything about it being cb or wc they also didnt know about it being banned from export...
he said if it is banned that he assumes its from a breeder but he couldnt tell me for certian....
if anyone is interested in breeding these please take them... there is 2 but i dont know what sex... just pm me for info.....
how much are they going for? Most of those major chains dont even care who gets the reptiles. As most of the staff is on commission, they see it as "Hey, heres my chance to make a cut of that 700 bucks." Not even giving a rats behind about the animal they are selling. Now not to say that all pet shops are like this, but most in winnipeg are. They just throw the stuff at you.
And I pretend not to know anything and ask alot of stupid questions to see what they will say, and still they try selling things to me. lol i just dont get it.

thats what im sayin.... would someone be able to let me know if im able to put the name of the mall here... yes it is a mall pet store
collide your box is full... i think i emailed it to you yesterday...
i think you should be able to. As long as you are nto saying anything bad about the company shouldnt have to worry about being sued for name slandering. Which i think is kinda silly in the first place. I thought we had freedom of speech and of the press. lol anyways i dont know might want to run id by a Mod.

If its a Kenyan Dwarf, it isn't damanaranum (they are South African). How large is it and what colors is it? does it have any rostral protuberance?
Chris

rostral protuberance??? what that...
its prob about 2" now and he said its almost full grown... and it was a brown.... kinda dark
Chris_Anderson

Thats what I thought, sounds like a Rhampholeon species. A rostral protuberance is like a horn or something from his nose (like a jacksonii or fischeri, etc.).
Chris

oh ok... no horn...
peterm15
12-06-04, 05:37 PM
Bearded Pygmy Chameleon.... it could possibly be that...
Rhampholeon brevicaudatus
do you know anything else on these chris???
i like them and if i can i will get one
Now that is alot differant than the thread started as.
This is a common species in captivity. They do ok if given proper care. Go back to the link Brandy posted and do a search for that species. You will find a good bit of info there.
Breeding and baby care is not nearly as difficult as with some other species.
