I am just curious of what my smooth green snakes sex would be, are they sexually dimorphic, if so what are different?
Thanks

I've never read anything about dimorphism in smooth greens; though I would imagine that you can take a good guess at sex by looking at the base of the tail.

A pop or probe would determine sex for sure or females tails tend to taper off more quickly & are narrower/shorter whereas males tails are ususally fatter/longer just below the vent as they have their hemipenes inside there. Mark

Smooth Greens are way to small to be probed and I don't wanna pop......I wen tand check him/her, the tail tapers....so female?

The tail is very long....it is fat and then it goes thin..so male actually.

I agree that they are a wee bit tiny for probing, but it can be done by someone with a steady hand & lots of experience. To visually sex it is always easier if you have more than one for comparisions sake. Especially if you have one who's sex has already been determined. Mark
