This is something I'm hoping to be able to invest in this year as well. Hopefully BigDan will be working on this.

I will hopefully have double hets, anerys het for snow, albinos het for snow, and snows. My anery het for albino is copulating with my double het as we speak! They are both directly from Pete Kahl. Ron.

MIKE:
There are alot of advertisements, who has the real deal will only come through alot of research.....being they look normal like buyer beware, I recommend getting them from the best in the business who can give you some warranty on that purchase.
If you were to buy something right now at today' s currency rate at the above mentioned price here is what it looks like.
CAD = $1000.00
USD = $1190.10
Factor in the CITIES and the fees the seller/breeder wants as well, anywhere from $200.00 - $800.00 USD (this is from a few sources and their claimed surcharge on the purchase).
Then add the crazy wait schedule the US Government has on these CITIES from 30 days - 9 months (I even heard some wait a full year).
Then consider and hope the seller/breeder is feeding the boa' s as you would want either slow or fast. Buying in Canada would be next day in your hands but on the CITIES time frame and waiting as long as I mentioned you either pay more or hope the boa arrives with some growth from all that waiting.
In the end lots of great boas in US and Canada, all these factors come into play on wanting a boa, as you mentioned the DH Snows would face this process.
I know my USA orders turned out great so far but the waiting process has been totally insane.
You posted you were getting some Ghost and DH Ghosts from USA, so I bet your dealing with the waiting now ;)

Tony
you well know that i only deal with the reputable dealers so i obviously would get anything in writting to guarentee me that im getting what im paying for
well i will take the wait anyday it takes 3 - 4 years for them to get to breeding size so if i have to wait a year for the us government so be it
and also that cities and surcharge covers the shipping as well
like i said up above if the prices dont match the market price then i will pay the extra and deal with us breeders but that is me and like i say the wait is no biggy to me
and yea im still waiting on cities, id much rather get my boa's in the spring anyways when it gets warmer, hell by that time there may be even more added to my order but who knows
as for the feeding it would be pretty bad business of them not to keep the snakes on a regular feeding schedule while waiting on paper work
and why do we have to do this Tony?

MIKE and EVERYONE:
Maybe I did not explain it well or you did not understand this statement.
"Factor in the CITIES and the fees the seller/breeder wants as well, anywhere from $200.00 - $800.00 USD (this is from a few sources and their claimed surcharge on the purchase)."
The pricing on the boas is listed above but if your planning on legally importing these boas and others you do need to get CITIES. Not you directly because the shipper would take care of that unless you do your own paperwork (some people do).
Depending on who and where your getting the boas or snakes in general these shippers will charge you the $200.00 - $800.00 USD on top of the animal cost, even at that some breeders won' t do a deal unless you order a preset order amount.
Taken from Rich Ihle' s website is as follows.
"International Shipments
We are familiar with all export procedures and welcome overseas accounts. There is a $2500 minimum purchase and a $400 charge for overseas shipments to cover C.I.T.E.S documents, veterinary certificates, freight forwarding and shipping fee's. A 50% deposit is required to to begin the C.I.T.I.E.S application process or hold animals."
Like you posted on the Ghost and DH Ghosts there should be that additional charge unless you worked out something different in that deal, but that is your business.....I am only saying that this charge in general does exist with almost all US orders.
As for feeding, yes they do feed them of course they want the animal healthy and alive....so I was not saying anything like that or reputation on that. What I was saying, take your average size boa that was born same date as say the Ghost your getting, add the months your waiting for it to arrive. Then look at it compared to the average size boa and you will notice a bit of size difference. The breeder/shipper does not state they will grow your animals for you only that it will be healthy and alive. Adding the time frame of waiting for it due to the paperwork you must see these boas do run up a bit of a tab which in the end those fees I mentioned will come up there.
In past Rich ads, you' ll notice there will be a description on the boa and what it is eating, this is where I am getting at. Where most of us would consider large mice, jumbo mice, even rat pups and so on....the ads state f/t mouse hoppers. If you do your research alot of these boas are pretty old to be eating on this size food. So yes your right they are feeding but not where you - me - anyone would be feeding if the boa was ours already, so in that statement all I am saying is doing a USA order going through the waiting process and this feeding schedule you will lose "time - size" in growing up the boa. Unless it is arranged that they feed the animals as they would or you would then all they do is sustain not grow them for you.
Another way to think about it is alot of people want male (this and that) and the general idea is need that male for future breeding season. If that boa is 2 months old and then you wait say 7 months due to shipping and paperwork from a import order. And you were hoping that boa once it arrives is average size for those 9 months, you would be mistaken. I have discussed this with alot of breeders and buyers where they all noticed the size was not average and not above either.
There is nothing wrong with this but as the buyer who wants that male ready in 1.5 years roughly and has those 7 months lost in size, then its a factor.
This is only my 2 cents not trying to make it a heated discussion or saying anyone is doing something wrong. Only that this is norm. And trying to let newbies - to ordering animals on long term plans or waiting schedules be aware of this factor.
In the end maybe nobody cares, so be it.......I do and make sure my orders get well above the average feeding.
Thank you for reading.
