Well, I've gotten tired of waiting for someone else to post here so I guess I will.
This is one of my Texas Longnose Snakes. They are a lizard-eating snake from the south-western USA. They are in the Lampropeltini subfamily and look to me to be allied with Lampropeltis. There care is very similar to that of a kingsnake. They hatch as a black and white banded snake but later become more red. The red's starting to show here. There are populations that feed almost entirely on rodents (Tennant, 2003) and based on that fact I've decided mice are an acceptible food for my snakes, though they've not been easy to switch. This is the first FT meal my little girl has eaten (and it's unscented!). My bigger guy is insisting on live scented pinks. Enjoy the pic! I know it sucks but I don't have a better one.

Edit: Fixed a typo, they are from the south-west, not the south-east.
Very neat species. How did you acquire them?

Thank Y'all!
I got them from Glades Herp in Florida back in October. It's expensive to get them up into Canada but dispersed the fees over a larger order so it wasn't too bad financially. I also got Corns, Bulls, Yellow Rats, a Speckled King, and a pair of Psuedelaphe flavirufa. I've got to say I'm most excited about the flavs. I'll see If I can get a picture up soon.
Post pics of your yellow rats! I absolutely love those guys!
And the speckled king while yer at it!

My camera batteries are done for the next 6h but I'll take some pics once they're charged.

Yellow Rats
I have three Yellow Rats, two WC females from Glades Herp and a male who ultimately came from a pet store. The male is by far the nicest but he is brumating behind a stack of rubbermaids and I'd rather not disturb everyone. The bigger female is at the smaller side breeding size and is still feeding well. I may breed her this year but I am concerned by her colour. She is dark and I worry that she may have some obsoleta or spiloides influence. What do you think? My other female is much smaller and still has some of her juvinile colouration and pattern but I think she'll be absolutely stunning by this time next year.

Corn
This corn also came from glades herp and is my favourite of all my adult guttata. The head pattern is quite unique and I like the body's colouration as well.

Speckled King
CB04 and purchased from glades herp. This little girl wont sit still but I managed to get one of her between sprints.

Tamaulipan Rats
I got an adult pair of P. f. flavirufa from glades herp which should breed this year. They both feed well of FT mice. This girl will literally catch them out of the air!! They are quite active snakes and don't like to be handled but will climb about you if you if you remain still. They have a reputation for biting but I've not had any problems yet. The male, however, threw a fit tonight so I don't have any pictures of him. I may take some tomorrow once he settles down. Here's the female.

I haven't been able to find any info on brumating flavirufa. Could anyone help me out?
Hope you liked them

Edit: I'll find somewhere else to host the pics, hold on.:p
There we go!! :D
That darker yellow rat is supreme! And typical of yellow rats. I doubt the influence of spiloides.
Both Vanan and I are drooling over that yellow rat. My pair are much lighter with greyish stripes. I prefer the blk striping. Bold and distinct.
The bottom yellow rat is looking a bit "'gladesy" to me.
Haven't seen many juvie speckleds, but I hope that she grows up nice!
The flav's are awesome!! Definitely a species I'd like to have. Well basically any NA rat is a species I'd like to have!!!

Personally, I like bold yellow and tend not to pay so much attention to the stripes. The dark girl certainly isn't without her charms though. The guy in the basement is BRIGHT YELLOW with brownish stripes.
I'd never really thought of the other girl as 'gladesy'. Looking at her again though she is a little orangish. The stripes are not distinct but are still comming in. Back in October the blotching was still quite obvious; I wonder how she'll mature.
From what I've seen that baby king is typical of young holbrooki. Hopefully she'll grow up like yours. :D
The flavs really are a joy... and I'm starting to see eye to eye with you on the NA rat point. I started out just wanting flavs, yellows and foxes (next year I hope), now I have my sights set on subocs, bairdi and Texans as well.
Do you know of anyone else in Canada that has flavs? I would like to match my babies from next year with some fresh blood but don't know where to find it. I know that Simon Sansom has them but I believe he posted that his are not breeding this year.
You've got one heck of a gallery!! Is that a deppei in there!? Thats another snake that's high on my wantlist, one of many I'm afraid.
Thanks for all the kind words.

Yes, that is a mexican pine! I have since sold him to reptiguy who was able to pair him up. Janiman on ssnakess also has a pair so you should be to able to acquire some next year if those two are lucky!
I try as hard as I can to stick to just rats, but occasionally, I give in and get a non-rat!
The cavers on my gallery are dead. A dog we had killed them. The dog too is now gone.
I hope to get cavers next year. I really want Simon Samson's!
