Well I have a ~4 week old retic female, so far no strikes and seems like a great "pet quality" retic. But I have a question, do retics usualy urinate as a deffence against predators? My girl will pee when she has had enough handling. The first time I thought it was just nature taking it's corse, the second time I thought it was a fluke, but now I can watch as the anus extends out the body and she shoots "blanks".

And, for the 4 weeks Iv had her she has only ate twice. and I always end up feeding her frozen thawed because she wont eat it on the day I feed it to her so I have to throw the mouse in the freezer and try on a future date. The first time I got her to eat I had to rub a chick on the mouse because I herd that some retics will refuse mice/rats but will hit a chick, I guess my question about feeding is are some retics picky eaters? In all my research befor obtaining her it's said retics are very agressive feeders and will strike at pretty much anything given to them. Today is feeding day so I'll see how it go's. The last two times Iv fed her Iv had to get ehr pissed off to geta strike then do the whole wiggle to get it to constrict.

Any help about these two problems would be great.

Well her feeding response was great. She hit like hammer and gobbled it right up. I think the first mouse I got her to eat WAS her first meal, and thats why she was being alil pickey.

And my ball python.. Oh man it looks like those picturs you see of pythons that ate a wild boar. I got a rat without looking at it befor I got home and I kid you not, it was almost double the width of the snake and almost half it's length. It was sposed to be a small rat but turned out to be closed to a jumbo, lol. someone is going to be a happy camper for the next two weeks. I know feeding to large of a meal can cause problems but I desided to offer it anyways, if it would have been to large it would have regergitated it like it has done befor when I tried rats to early.

In responce to your being peed on problem. I had a similar problem with my male Afrock when we first got him. He would pee everytime we handled him. Ya its annoying but ya gotta deal with it I guess. We just started grabbing a towel or container to catch any "gifts".He is now 6 months old and he has stopped doing it all together. I think he was just doing it to get put down, but it just wasnt working how he wanted it to..so he grew out of that habbit. So I would say find a way that works for you and keep handling her as usual and cross your fingers that she grows out of it like my boy did!

My JCP has shitted on me once. Luckily it wasn't a big mess. But she'll use that or musk as a defence mechanism when shes pissed off. I hate it, but she doesnt do that often.

Retics will do this in defense. Trust me it's better than taking a bite.
