Would wrapping towels around the tank help with insulation? Would cardboard or something else work better? I imagine covering most of the screen top with something would help with humidity and heat, but what material would be best to do this? A towel?
Is there a better way to insulate a glass tank for increased heat retention and humidity?
Thanks

When I used to use a glass tank, I put a piece of glass over part of the top and that helped.

Or you could save yourself the time, energy and money and just buy yourself a rubbermaid. I have a glass tank and I made a plexi glass lid with angled holes in it to stop hummidity from escapeing and it worked, but I'm moving that same Ball python out of the glass tank into a rubbermaid because the tank isn't meeting all the needs to my ball python.
Just my 2 cents.

I've heard that it's best to not use the lid the rubbermaid originally comes with. I don't have a rack, so how should I set it up?

Great pic, thanks. Where are the ventilation holes?
Will the tubs from www.reptiletubs.com work just as good as a rubbermaid?
If you still want to keep your aquarium though, you can better insulate it by putting it completely inside of a Rubbermaid. Lol.

I've heard of tons of people using rubbermaids but have never considered it because I thought a tank would be better, but I think I might just get me one of those. It will save me a lot of money, as well!
Thanks for the replies!
To be honest, I did the whole "aquarium thing" when I first started, and if was just a ROYAL pain in the a$$. Much more trouble than it's worth in my opinion. Anyone wanna buy a few aquariums? Lol...

What size rubbermaid should I get for a baby?
Rubbermaids' #2220; 11.3 liter, (16x10x6). I keep my hatchlings in those until they are 600 grams, then they upgrade to a larger rubbermaid.
