View Full Version : rubbermaids for Boas
is there a rubbermaid big enough to house a full grown bci MALE and could you possibly point me in the direction of where to get one. oh and another thing, do the rubbermaids have to be translucent, or can the snakes be in the dark? i ask only because i have found some big ones, but they were solid black.
They dont have to live in darkness even if the rubbermaid has dark sides... U could cut a hole in the top and install a light
since they are plastic would that not be a melting/fire hazard?
No.. U could install flourecent lighting... little heat :D
HOWEVER... personally I dont like the idea of an adult boa living in a rubbermaid
go shadow...yea...buy a fluorecent fixture and bulb from home depot and a 10 dollar timer and your set. That will cost like 30 bucks.

I have seen some really big ones at Canadian Tire that were see thru, that would be able to hold a 5 or so foot male easily.
shadow, if i can find one of adaquate size, why is it you don't like the idea of one living in one?if its not good for them, please let me know

MONTIE:
Like Tim said a few are available at Canadian Tire, the biggest I saw was something like a 67 liters a long type but only 5" high others are more like trunk types and mostly color coded so not see through but there might be a few.
As for subadults or small boas like Hog Islands or Rainbows these work fine as well.

These are from Walmart around 22 - 29 dollars Canadian.

Hey Montie420,
I cant exactly say its bad for the animal.. so I wont.. but my reasons are somewhat selfish.. lol
I like to look and see my animals :D
I use the underbed units by (I think) Gracious Living - Storage Solutions. I purchase mine at Crappy Tire and they are approximately 3'x20"x6". I house my boas up to around 5 feet in them. Most male boas will likely exceed this size however, and I have never seen a larger unit available.
