Okay , kinda new to corn snakes , I am used to ball pythons and large boas . I will be caring for a male breeder size corn and need to know what size enclosure it will need . It will only be here for a couple months . I have a few aquariums but two are full and if it needs one of the bigger ones I will have to do a house swap between a few or I could save myself the troble and buy a rubbermaid , but once again what size . Also what brand of rubbermaids do you reccommend for corn snakes that have very tight locking lids , the last thing I need is my friends loose corn in the house . Any help would be apprienated .

Corns are active and will use all the space you give them, but mostly active at night. Our adults are mostly in enclosures that are 36 X 18 inches floor space (40 gallon breeder tank). Some 2 year olds are still small enough to be in 30 X 16 inch tubs. I try and go by length plus width of tank being greater than total length of the snake - but corns will use more if you give it to them. Many of them also seem to enjoy climbing.

Any rubbermaid or sterlite tub we have used has had to have the top secured. S-hooks through holes in the lid and lip, or binder clips work pretty well, we use tie-down straps when ours are in tubs with lids (during brumation when they are not in the rack.

hope that helps,
