you could try a lumber yard. Im not sure if it will contain any chemicals. and I know in oakville theres a co-op/ farm store that my sell it in large amounts

PCPC usually has some bags in stock too.. Any farm supply (co-op) near you should have it as well..

Bartman: I work at a pet store in the beaches of east end toronto. We have fairly large quantities of aspen shavings... approximately 1 foot deep, 3 feet high, and maybe 2 feet wide.
If you are interested, give me a PM and I can give you some info.

Wal-mart should have it as well. Probably more expensive than the other places listed.
I get a compressed bag 24"x18"x6" approx for $6.50can or so at my local store. though I have noticed that not all Wal-marts carry it. It's in the small animals aisle and is listed as "Small animal bedding"

Ren's sells the big bags of aspen for about 1/2 of what PCPC sells it for.
Rens is definitely the place to get it if live in and around Toronto. I've yet to find a place that sells it for ANYWHERE near as cheap as Rens.

a large bulk bag, that fills up one of those large garbage bins. Its compressed in a brown bag.
Sounds like a compressed 3 cubic foot bag, $22 is twice as much as you would have paid at Rens.
3-4 cubic foot bag of aspen shouldn't run you more then $7-10.
