Well this is a big post....but I mean the best part of GTP's is the change and watching the suttle differances that happen each day, week and month. Here is one photo from each month since we got our GTP.

January 22nd 2004 - About a week after getting it. This is our first and only GTP so far....at this point this little guy made us pretty nervous. I must have checked on it 100 times the first week and fretted over everything! When the first meal was successful it was a great feeling. You can see it has about three green scales :D

<img src="http://8snakes.myftp.org/marisa/Snakes/gtp/gtp301-22-03.jpg">

Feburary 24th 2004 - Got the snake in the nick of time because the change started happening right away! Since we have had him a month at this point, we were less nervous and enjoying him more and more. He was eating like a cornsnake, and that helped with the first time nervs.

<img src="http://8snakes.myftp.org/marisa/Snakes/gtp/gtp02-24-04.jpg">

April 29th 2004 - I have pics from March but literally nothing happened in that month. Not even on more green scale between Feb and March. But in April his little nose started going. This was my favorite time. He looked like a piece of candy during this phase. Cage cleaning sucked during these months/weeks because even in the day he tries to bite bite bite.

<img src="http://8snakes.myftp.org/marisa/Snakes/gtp/4gtp04-29-04.jpg">

May 19th 2004 - Lots more green came in, and so did some attitude. He was always having bad sheds at this point no matter what I did. Humidity was perfect, spraying, etc. I was worried but figured the best we could do was remove the old shed and keep trying.

<img src="http://8snakes.myftp.org/marisa/Snakes/gtp/2gtp05-19-04.jpg">

June 15th 2004 - Worst shed ever. I was really getting frustrated at this point, but the change is happening faster now and the little brat eats like a pig.

<img src="http://8snakes.myftp.org/marisa/Snakes/gtp/2gtp06-15-04.jpg">

End of July - Ha-Ha! Success. A perfect shed and more green. Now we can easily clean his cage/reach in the cage during the day without fear of getting bitten. We don't really handle him but it seems age is calming it down quite a bit.

August 8th 2004- A half way green brat!

<img src="http://8snakes.myftp.org/marisa/Snakes/gtp/4gtp08-08-04.jpg">

September 12 2004- Last chance for a outside photo...some blue is coming in now! I was excited about this because I prefer blue/green GTP's over the yellow/green ones which my boyfriend likes. Muwahaha.

Today - October was uneventuful and then we had Matt_K babysit our little guy as some things came up. It's home now and I got this months photo. He came home MORE green! :D

Well sorry about the long post but that's our first 11 months of living with a Green Tree Python. It's been a really neat experience and we are planning on getting another one really soon. When I didn't own one I always wished people would do these sorts of posts so I figured I would.

Thanks for looking!

Wow, I hadn't realized how much he had changed since you got him, that's incredible. For some reason, last night he seemed much more green than in that last photo, perhaps because it was a bit darker down here.. Either, That snake is awesome and any time you wanna drop it off, just let me know :D I don't mind dodging bites...

Sweet pics!!!Ive been thinking of investing in a pair of Chodros, but i need to read up a bit more before i take the leap.The color change alone would be worth it i think, just beautiful.

Yeah I will never forget when I went to PCPC and saw this little yellow worm curled up in the corner of the enclosure. Although he was not a hatchling when we bought him. And then an hour later taking him out of the bag and him missing my right eye by about an INCH. The trip home from Port Credit didn't do much for his attitude that first day. :P I actually felt him get close to my eye. That would have sucked!

Tim- Yeah I make sure to take a picture each month. I am still anxious about how the snake will turn out in the end. We want a pair but I am waiting to see the final adult colors so I can pick the most suitable mate.

Matt- Thanks d00d. You did great with him considering he had another nice shed with you. He isn't mean he just hates you.

Getting closer and closer to totally green -- he looks great Marisa! :D And very cool post... next time I need to pick myself a chondro that doesn't change colour overnight so I can keep a photo record of the change like that :p

very nice looking GTP, the reason why he is taking a while for the colour change is because he is from the biak island and that is why he is pretty mean.... but that is a very nice lokking Green tree, keep it up

Well actually with no locality data, one cannot say for sure what local it is and never can. It's pretty frowned upon to guess and then just call it that, so usually its just "unknown" :)

He is also not that mean at all, and I can easily hold him or change his cage in the daylight without even a strike.

;) :D

Thanks!

Things are really going fast since I brought him home from Matt's house. Tons of green and blue has come up in the last week, so I will be taking this months photo soon!
