LIZARDS!!! Yay!! I made a deal with everyone I know to shoot me on the spot if I ever bought a Leopard Gecko or Bearded Dragon so the next logical choice was.........

Yellow Ackies! I got 4 from Niagra Reptiles (Jon Kendrick) and they are the coolest thing. They are just like birds!! And soooo smart. Hands down the coolest lizards I have ever owned. I'm kicking myself for not getting any sooner!

Thanks Jon!

Cool. So that's what a yellow ackie is. I thought it was some kind of snake.

How smart are they?

They look pretty nice Jeff. Congrats, buddy!

Very nice. I love ackies. The only problem is they do bite and are very quick.

Its actually a pig tank that is used in the goldfish/koi industry. I work at a koi nursery so we have them TEMPORARILY setup in 2 of these. The wood cages are just waiting for the paint to dry. The cement tiles are the best thing about the cage. Its a modified "Retes stack" and it works great! Plywood can be used also though.

sounds like you going to be busy:) as for the green trees, is that green tree monitors? I've been trying for the longest time to pick up a trio....and no luck yet. Also great insight on the MORPH thread Jeff:) totally agree with ya!!!

Ha ha, thanks KaHane, I agree with me too!!

Yeah, I'm gonna be getting green tree monitors (prasinus) and possibly black trees (beccari). No time frame, but it WILL happen.

Hey man, let me know when you get yours!! I'd be totally down to work together on something!! Its not like this is going to be easy or anything, ha ha!! :D

Talk to you soon!

This guy will have them Kahane. They aren't illegal to export from the States like all the Aussie monitors so it shouldn't be a problem to get them. I'm sure Glades and all the other places gets WC babies. They ARE a few floating around.

The ackies are cute.

My biggest problem with lizards is keeping bugs for them. I don't like bugs, not at all.

but I've been thinking of trying to overcome the bug thing and getting a small lizard of some sort, say a sandfish skink, beardy, a cham or flying gecko.

Here's the link Kahane.

Green Tree Monitors aren't easy to get at all since Indo closed it's doors on the export of a few species, V. prasinus included, unless they are proven F2 animals. Duncan and Danny have only recently reached F2's and I'm still not sure they're offering any for sale.

As for the link you posted, I believe you have to have female prasinus for males to be of any use (reproductively that is). That being said, don't hold your breath for them out of the US. If you are truely serious, I know of one or two successful breeders in Europe, but it will be very pricy, and time consuming (and still a little tricky).

Best wishes,

Hee hee, welcome to the lizard side of herping!! It's not so bad, really.

Besides, those ackies of yours kind of have the body line of a nice chubby little puff adder. Just try to ignore the legs and you'll feel right at home......
