..paper towl substrate? The only places im now using paper towl is in my 2 rubbermaids for the ball pythons. I usually use aspen shavings.

I just moved my boa into a big 5x2x2 (not the big plan that was posted a while ago) for the time being, and im using paper towl substrate as I just cleaned the tank and dont want to put more substrate in until I know whats permenently going in it.

Anyways, he was blue eyed a couple days ago and should go into shed very soon. Can I spray with paper towl substrate, or will it become all moldly and rip if the snake is moving around?

i always mist mine and I have never had a problem with moulding/tearing. I think it should be fine as long as you're not totally soaking it. Think of the commercials, test their absorbency claims ;) haha

I think it might get roughed up anyways, whether wet or dry, due to the size of the towels. I find the smaller the pieces, the more the boas mess it up, so I never use paper towels in anything larger than an 11 gallon rubbermaid. I then switch to newspaper, since they usually unfold in to 2'x2' pieces.

Theres just something about newspaper that I hate. So far he hasnt messed it up, as hes under 4 feet. Maybe when his new tank is built, ill try newspaper.
