Hey folks,
Here's a pic of a small brown lizard we received today from the OSPCA. It was abandoned, along with the rest of a small collection, by tenants who were evicted from their apartment. We're not familiar with it; any help with identifying it would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff Hathaway

Definitely not a Xenagama.
I would guess it s an iguanid... probably from around mexico... it resembles some lizards in an old iguana book I had in the 80's
I would guess maybe some sort of Ctenosaura? ... maybe Hoplocercus (highly unlikely, but from the images in my memory you never know)... or Enyaliosaurus?
Honestly, I do not know.. but I figured I'd chime in with a few guesses.
I'll try to dig up that old Iguana book of mine. The care info is useless.... but it had some cool pics of some obscure lizards.
I'll have a look.

How about Hoplocercus spinosus (http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/site/resources/laurie_vitt/Hoplocercus2.jpg/view.html)
It's hard to compare your picture and the one on the website since yours doesn't show the side very well. The tail sure looks close though, as do the feet and the ridge over the eyes.

It does not have the yellow that the Hoplocercus spinosus has. But it could just be a color difference?? Maybe if you got a better side shot it might be easier to tell what it is.

not a uro, you can tell by the head. My guess is it's a young spiny tail iguana ?
