Ball python 4 years ago...
Ball python female that i returned after 5 minutes being home striking hard hissing etc i was freaked out big time. Gave me another female was same size 4.5 feet so so docile who ever owned her took care of her and handled her alot... that's 20 years ago and she has now passed but presently have over 21 snakes to date in my house (would you believe it was my most fear until that ball python 20 years ago i am now 36 and i'd say very cured lol

As for me, it was a green anole which i had in 1994...
Mine was a green anole named, 'sammy', that I had over twenty years ago.
wow--that makes me feel old. :)
This little guy loved the yellow curtains in my room and actually ended up living there. I used to catch daddy-long legs and set them and sammy on a table and watch him scramble to catch them.
my first personal was my albino king four years ago who is now a monster. But as a kid it would have to be a green anole. Which were all of us kids.
My first would have been a red-ear slider when I was a kid, but the one that got me back into herps was definitely my sweet female panther, Carmen, 4 years ago.

Hmm, well I have had a pair of res since I was 5; the male is still with me the original female passed away. My first purchased herp was a leopard gecko from a pet store that cost to much died right away (was sick when I bought it) one year later after a lot of research and with the thought to avoid pet shops I picked up my first snake, a 3 year old female ball, I still have her today (7 years later) , she is what I consider my first real herp as the gecko died so quickly, there is actually a post in the ball python form that just went up about her with some pick’s , Its looking like my first ball was a good pick.

mine was an anole too when i was 8
When i was a little kid my mom was a single mom and so we were fairly poor
I wanted a lizrd so bad at the pet store that was close to our house but my mother didn`t have an extra 40.00$ to spend on it
One day she cme home from work and had a surprise for me
It turned out that she caught an anole at work (she worked at a warehouse that had shipments of fruit and vegtables as a sorter) it came in on a truck from California so she caught it and gave it too me.
It lived for serval years.
Thats funny 17 years ago an anole was 40.00 lol

my first was a turtle when i was like 5( that was 14 years ago)... then last x-mas my g-friend bought me a leo the next day i went and bought another.soon after a veiled... now im lookin into a third leo... some anoles.. long tails... tree frogs.. cresties etc.etc. its definatly an addiction... and i cant wait to get a snake... but i gotta wait till im out of my parrents place... i need more room...lol
My first was a normal cornsnake about 1.5 years ago. It was going to be either a cornsnake or a leopard gecko. It was live crickets vs frozen mice that decided it.

My first herp was a green iguana in 1988. My first amphibian... whch of course led to the snowballed collection I have now, was in 2000, and was a dwarf african clawed frog (Hymenochirus curtipes).
I got my first Dart frogs in 2002, which was a group of Dendrobates auratus. I now keep in the neighborhood of 40 darts.
Red ear slider when I was about 10. I had him for 6 years then gave him away.
Mike
Seems like yesterday when I brought him home as a baby...

A Green snake when I was like.... 13? Poor thing was untamed and fell victim to eating a criket with a lovely piece of substrate stuck to it... Promptly passed away.... >_< Had two okeetee corns in sucession after that, one after the other... First escaped and got stuck to a piece of duct tape (HORRIBLE~!) and the other misteriously passed away in its water bowl...
After all this time, gunna try again lol; pet shops are much better equipped with reptile items ^_^

Well as a kid my grandfather gave me some salamanders and then came the anoles that he assured my mother would only live 6 months lol. then at the age of 15 a BF bought me my first ball and i quickly jumped into the giants we had a retic and a burm, they were sold off though when i was going to have my daughter.
I got back into herps buy acquiring 2 rescue corns that are my son and duaghter's pet. Now the kids and I have 12 snakes, 7 T's (my son's personal babies lol) 1Emp scorp,1 pacman frog,1 sulcata (my daughter's early x-mas gift you would think it was her own child lol) 1 skink that i just had to buy for the kids it was soooo cute lol I'll use any excuse to feed the kids and I' s addiction to herps lol I couldn't possibly deny my children a new herp, It a learning experience they will nerver forget. At least that is what i tell grandma and grandpa lol

Fat tailed gecko named Squeeboo. 6 years, and she was an adult when I got her. Probably wild caught, but she was a gift so I didn't really have any say in the matter. I wonder how old she really is...

my first herp was an african clawed frog. got him ten years ago and he is still alive today. the first herp i ever actually paid for was another african clawed frog, an albino. my first reptile was a cuban anole, and the first reptile i bought was an argenitine boa constrictor. still have him.
My first herp was a Columbian Rainbow. It was 1974 and I was 11. I ordered <thats what we used to do> a Ball Python, but back then the dealer would "substitute" an animal of higher value if he did not have what you wanted in stock.
Snake arrived 1/2 frozen, but he survived after many eyedroppers full of antibiotics. Shortly after, my Mom let me get a Columbian Boa baby.
Both snakes were wonderfull. I look at the old pics and smile.
