Just how big do IJ's get?

I have an IJ girl that measures 8'4" but nowhere in the literature have i seen these sizes mentioned, im actually quite impressed myself she eats like a fiend and is docile as a lamb when not feeding. Has anyone else seen IJ's this big?

Most Irian Jaya are between 4-6 feet. Some do grow larger. Yasser at Spitfire Reptiles owns a female that is 7.5 feet named Oprah. Yours may be the largest in captivity? Do you have any pictures or history.

I've heard Karel Bergman has an 8' IJ but that might not be the case. I've never asked him.

Well, im pretty sure its pure but then who can really tell as for the pic allow me a day or two to snap a pic next to a tape measure to verify, besides my first measurement was pretty rudimentary though i believe accurate. i used a string then measured the string anyone have a better way to measure snakes? if so let me know, i guess next is the fact that im looking for a suitable male to mate this big girl to, someone had said though that i may have a tough time finding a male she will accept at that size do you guys think this will be the case could she be choosy and hold out till a similar male comes along? i hope i dont have to wait for a huge male to surface.

If you take a pic from DIRECTLY up above next so something with a standard measurment, like a AA battery, then I could use the measuring program I downloaded to measure her. Im sure almost everyone here has this program :)

I have the largest male around( I believe)
at almost 7.5 feet and 13 years old. Karel
does have a monster female about 8 feet long.

OK i'm a fool sorry all on this bold claim i guess my measurment with the string was off by 2 ft. ill post a pic of her shortly she is around 6+ ft sorry all once again boy is my face red.... oh well heres to hoping she'll grow a bit more. she eats like she wants to and must have gained at least 6 to 8 inches since i bought her but no 8 foot monster booooo. :)

At least you said something! I have seen people on forums KNOW they made a mistake and keep going with it until they look so bad everyone is laughing at them! They just won't admit a mistake.

Everyone makes them especially when measuring snakes! It can be soooo difficult to get an accurate measurement. :) :D

I know... still i wish i could have been correct an 8ft female would have made a wicked awesome breeder. I guess at 6ft she can still be good.
