Hello!

Yesterday I purchased a new tarantula. It was sold to me as a "Salmon Birdeater"

I came home to look up more info, and realized my new little guy doesn't look anything like a "Salmon Birdeater" the photos online I have seen show a spider with some dark/black on it. My guy has NO dark on him and certainly no black and he doesn't look like a salmon birdeater at all.

I don't care what he is as I bought him for his look not his "name" but I would love some help anyway in identifing him! Can anyone give me some info or a guess?

This photo is not a good one, but shows almost exactly what his "real life" color is. Also, that spot is not a lighter marking, its the bald patch before a molt. thanks in advance!

It is about three inches now. Not more than that though. Very thin legs, fairly furry as you mentioned.
But not like a "fat" tarantula. As in my other T, a Bolivian Salmon Pink....she has fat furry legs. This guy has thinner, less furry legs.

I will try to get a better photo if I can.

If it helps, so far he has done nothing but stay off the ground really so he seems fairly aboreal. I do have a hide on the ground for him but he is staying up high. :)

Just as I finish writing that, he is on the ground now. LOL.

3 inches from tip of leg to tip of leg in back. Pretty small, just not a spiderling.

I looked through most of the images. And I have to say, while I love that website (thanks! great suggestion) I am a little confused. There are soooo many photos, and quite a few that look very similar to them, I cannot be certain about any of them. :( :(

I think my best bet will be getting a clear, focused photo and posting it. But I am most definitly looking through all the pictures on that site as well to make sure I can't get this figured out myself.

Hope I can get a photo soon!

I am hoping to get a better cam to take photos with this week. Until then here are a couple more sh*tty ones of the little guy! I love him, whatever he is. :) :) Now that I have a tape measure a little closer to him today it seems like he might be under 3 inches and closer to two. I am HORRIBLE at guessing inches or feet or anything to do with measurement. hhaha oh well. You can compare if you have the same type of thermometer! haha :)

I hate my cam. It sucks.

So today I got a friend to come over with her wicked digital camera. I wanted to get a very clear picture of Ned (spider from above of course!) so Phillip could possibly help with positive identification.

So I take his 5 gallon tank downstairs. And I move around the toilet paper roll he is hiding in. Not all crazy like but moving it around to see if he would come out for a quick pic....well he wasn't coming out so I took a closer look and CRAP he is totally molting! I saw extra legs!

But I am really worried now. We stressed him out by moving him around. I never expected him to molt so soon, as the bald spot looked new and seemed like it would be a week or more until the actual molt. I know how delicate of a time this is for them.

Do you think he is going to be o.k.?!?! I put a t-shirt over his tank to keep him quiet....

Luckily we didn't touch him at all just the tube. And I sprayed a bit in there and filled water dish up to raise humidity for the next few days.

thanks! will get a pic soon i hope!
