View Full Version : The witch in her new Reptic-Plastics cage :)
I picked up two of these cages yesterday from Jean-Benoit and they are simply awesome. I like building my own, but these cages are just sooo nice! I will definitely be purchasing cages from him in the future. It was a pleasure to do business with him and I recommend him to anyone looking for new cages!

I was looking at those cages last week. Man are they nice! But I think shipping them across the country would be as expensive as the cages. They are such nice cages though! TB
What are the dimensions on that cage Linds, and how are you heating it? It looks very nice and my two Colombians will need bigger cages in the next year or so.
I really like those cages too, I'm planning on getting a few very soon! What made you go with the drop door instead of the sliding glass?
Nick
Thanks for the replies! :)
Corr,
The dimensions are 4x2x1 and I am heating them with 11" heat tape :)
Nick,
I definitely prefer to have two doors (as a safety precaution), which is why I built my cages with double drop-down doors. While my main reason for not using sliding glass doors on regular cages is that I find them to be unstable. I've had experiences with tracks coming loose before (and in situations where I couldn't move the snake for a few months  ), and just don't feel silicone is an adequate way of securing an enclosure in which a large, strong animal like a boa needs to be housed.
Now I know I don't have to worry about tracks coming loose in these cages since they aren't siliconed on, I'm also not a fan of using glass in cages (not for anything other than I'm very clutsy and perfer to have as many non-breakables in my home as possible, as well as it is heavier). I had the option of using acrylic in place of the glass, but it would get terribly scratched.
Thanks guys!
Jean,
Glad you're happy with your little guy! :D

Linds: Iam happy that you like youre cages! That little guyana stripper was really worth it! ;)
Tim: shipping a 48x24x12 cage from montreal to Vancouver cost less than 60$, Alberta around 45$, Ontario 35$...that size of cage is pretty cheap to ship

depends on the size! the only cage that is that much expensive to ship is the 48x24x16, because it falls in the oversize 3 category!
