What plants do lizards like?

I am hoping to turn my 50 gal. tank into a vivarium for my brown anole. Manitoban Herps also suggested that I put in a few long tail grass lizards, house geckos, and day geckos. However, I know absolutely nothing about geckos or grass lizards, their feeding requirements, their cage requirements, etc. Can anybody help me out?

These guys like pothos, which I always forget to water and they dry up, so I keep the stem in a jar of water. Sprider plants and tropical ivys work well, and if you want a colorful plant try a few crotans.

Long tail Grass Lizards and House Geckos have the same care as green and brown anoles, the house geckos are nocturnal (come out in the night), unlike the anoles and grass lizards. The grass lizards are 14 inches long and only 2-3 inches are body, THEY HAVE HUGE TAILS!

Try to pick this up, The Green Anole Manual. It tells you how to care for your anoles, grass lizards, house geckos ect.That book is great!

im looking to do the same....where are you located black panther... i know that the pet store in yorkdale mall has a setup like that and the staff is pretty knowledgeable it looks really cool... right now im tryin to figure out how many can go in a 45 tall... im lookin at the anoles long tails and tree froggs... and maybe some sort of gecko along with it... im hopin 2 of each if possible...... a nice peace of cork bark leaning up against the back can hide a dish for worms and a water dish...

So how many anoles and grass tailed lizards can fit in a 50g.--along with a couple of grey/green treefrogs, perhaps? And is there anything I should feed them besides crickets? Do they need a basking area/heat lamp, or would just UV lights and an undertank heating pad work?

id say do what im gonna do... start off with a coupple of each... and then if there seems to be no prob add one or 2 more... but i would say you need a heat lamp..... if your useing real plants the undertank heater might cause more harm than good.

All I use is a heat lamp, but a florescent light would be an excellent consideration.

You can feed them mealworms, moths and crickets, and the anoles and day geckos will eat fruit and fruit flavored baby food.

I'm going to paste what I posted in the other thread because I'm just that lazy:

Are you planning to mix all of these species together? Keeping so many different species in such a confined space isn't the greatest idea...

All of the lizards you mentioned are from different corners of the planet. Day geckos are from Madagascar, long tailed grass lizards are from Asia, and anoles are found in Florida, Cuba, and some Caribbean islands, liek Jamaica.

Not only are these all from very different environments, but each kind of reptile carries it's own 'bugs' or bacteria. Some of the species could get territorial, or get sick, and then you wouldn't know which one is sick if they're all together.

It's really up to you in the end, everyone has different opinions on this...

Some other options are a vivarium full of dart frogs or some kind of gecko if you really are looking for something like that...

Yes, I know that mixes aren't always very good; after being into amphibians, I know it's bad news to mix lizards with pacman frogs (lizards would get eaten!) or even just pacmans with pacmans. And that it's a bad idea to put beardies in with uromastyx. I was interested in putting the different species together because it was suggested to me by someone who seems to know his herps. I take it that it would be best to have just anoles?

I hear yah Heather, it's all about experiment and and doing your homework.

Study a few months about where each species like to hide,bask and eat, you can make a perfect habitata for them.

I have kept, green anoles with grey treefrogs, long tail grass lizards, house geckos,crocodile geckos, and emerald swifts.

I have a 20 gallon with an crocodile gecko, house gecko and a green anole. I have had the cage like this for over a year this summer, the anole has been in my collection for 5 years.
