If I breed a normal female to a male pastel what would the offspring be.

Theoretically, 50% normals and 50% pastels.

Really, I always thought you would get half more het pastels and half normals. I suck at this genetics business :p

nope cause pastels are co-dom if im correct. you wont get hets just pastels or normals.

Dont worry i suck with genetics too (pastels is the only one i understand)

Yea, You guys are right. Pastels are codom which means no hets involved!!! Unless you look at it like pastels are the het for the Super!!!

Pastels themselves are hets. In codominant (or incomplete dominant) genes, the hets are visible morphs themselves. The homozygous form would be the super pastel.

This is different from albinos and pieds, where the hets look like normals and only the homozygous form displays the morph.

I just started to learn this in my eighth grade science book (yess Im in the eighth grade) but i think thats how it works and if a normal was to be mated with a het pastel wouldn't it bemore pastels than normals and some hets? I think because of the alleles there will be some hets?!?!

As we just said Darkest, pastels themselves are hets. Therefore, there is no such thing as being het for pastel.

You must be reading about recessive genes. The pastel gene is co-dominant (or incomplete dominant).
