Hello everyone. Ive been trolling these threads for a bit and just decided to go ahead and sign up. I currently have a 10 year old Ball Python, but im looking to get an Argentine or a BCI (if those are the ones that dont include Surinames and such). I noticed that no one on here really posts anything about them, nor does it seem that anyone owns one. Is there a reason for this, and can someone tell me what you think about Argentines? Thanks
Ryan

Thanks for the info---makes me feel a bit more at ease. I really want a female, but I'd prefer to have her stay under 10' so I think Ill have to get a male :( One more question now. How long do you think this snake can last in a 90 gallon enclosure? I know I should start it in a smaller cage and I will, but I just dont know what is a 'good size' cage for an adult snake.
Glad you finally decided to sign up and become part of our community! :D
The reason they aren't the most popular topic of discussion is due to our large Canadian memberbase. Argentines are still fairly uncommon up here, as importing is next to impossible.

They grow fairly slowly... I would think a 90 gallon would serve for 2-3 years. Our male is probably getting close to 7' (need to take a measurement!!) and he is 3.5 years old. Last measurement was 8/10/2004 and he was 6.5' then. :)

Linds is right, importing IS next to impossible! I want one sooo bad... I've also been looking for BCOs for a while now and you can consider yourself lucky that you have the choice at the end, to get one or not, because over here, even if you decide you want one, you can't have a legal one...

That's mine in the first link and she's still in a 55 gal tank but I'm in the process (slowly) of building a giant enclosure for her. She's been in the 55gal for a year now and she was in a smaller one when I first got her. A 90 gal should be plenty till it get's to about 8ft or so. Mine is 7' 2" and 4 years old now.

Wow... nice Argentine. Seen lots of babies but never a big one. I didn't know they were so uncommon here. I know at least 4 people that have them in BC. Good luck finding one. They sure are beautiful. I would have bought a pair at our the fraser valley show this summer if they didn't get so big :)
