Automatic Misters

I'm sure this has been through the forum several times, but maybe you can all give me a hand anyways. I am working a lot more now, and can't spray my cham as often as i'd like. So i'm thinking about an automatic mister. If somebody has plans to make one i'd be ecstatic. Otherwise...

how is the zoomed one? crappy?

who else manufactures them?

where can i get them in canada?

This is the system I've got and I'm pretty happy with it. I ordered the misting nozzles from this site. The rest of the parts I picked up at home depot.

I currently use a garden sprayer. It's great. I don't know how anybody can get by with a standard spray bottle and a chameleon. I find i don't need to pump my sprayer every week. Maybe every week and a half. It starts to become a heavy "rain" instead of a mist when it needs pumping.

I use 2 gallon garden sprayer hooked up to three nozzles and a solenoid/timer that cycles 3 times a day 5 minutes per cycle. I have to pump the sprayer every other day, if I only fill it up to 1 gallon. If you fill it up completely you'd have to prime it more often.

Solomon, your awsome thanx for the link, iv been trying to figure out how to do this for a while, I have 6 veileds which dont really need it, but i have a pair of Chamaeleo Trioceros deremensis the giant Usambara 3-horned Chameleon which do need this iv been burning out diaphrams left and right with foggers hahaha kinda expensive.....

NOt sure if you are interested, but I carry an automatic misting system if you are not wanting to build one yourself. It comes with a digital timer, pump, resevoir, and a nozzle. All you have to add is water and possible more mist heads.

Hey Nick I have a question about that system,

how offen do you have to pump that thing up, i have a large pump mister and i dont see how it could last long enough to keep a good pressure going, jsut curours how that is working out for you?

the design looks great, how much does the lawn timer roughly cost? I had tried a similar design, however, i use a regular timer with under water pump in a water bucket instead of the spray bottle and the lawn timer and the piping are larger in diameter, the pump i got seem to be too strong, maybe some one knows some site to get some smaller water pump.

Well......

I use a 2 gallon sprayer, fill 'er up to 1 gallon and blasting two nozzles 5 or 6 times a day at one minute per cycle, I've still got some pressure on the third morning, though it's pretty sad(I've found this not to soad the cages too much and drip water everywhere!). Every other day I pump it up. The timer I picked up at crappy tire for $13(last year). It has 14 different cycles(on/off/specific days) and I can program it down to the minute. It is digital, and comes with a battery backup (Best thing EVER!!)

I think I can get 4 - 6 nozzles going for two days on the system. Any more than that, and I'd bite the bullet and buy one. I've checked out Greg's site, and he's got some great ones.

The system I built was under $80.

If you're going for pumps, there are electric solenoid pumps that can put out the PSI need to run the nozzles. Piston pumps are the alternative. I can't find any decently priced pumps in my area, or on the net.

Another option is to hook it up to your home plumping. Town pressure should be enough to drive it, if using ther proper sized tubing (small, 1/4 or 1/8").

Interesting Ill start collecting materials and give it a shot although i might just go with hooking it up to plumming depends i have a few too many cages to cover for my pump mister lol. Thanks for the info :)

well im at 6 adult chams, and 20+ babies lol My female carpet died last weekend :( (been having problems for awhile but it was a shock still) I also lost one of the Honelli babies i think its been the heat. My cages are a little on the big side soo takes up a lot of room, iv been wanting to move witch has prevented me from going ahead with mister system plans but who knows i cant seem to get my crap togeather to move lol. There alot of work adults are not bad but the babies take up alot of time. I dont keep anything else but chams although once i get babies liquidated im thinking of getting some mantela frogs. who knows! Mabey ill win the loto and buy all those Parsons! :0

Heat is dangerous. Sorry for your losses. I know what you mean about the babies. Any species is time consuming. I'm paranoid of the little brevs that just hatched, and I' have 60 eggs of assort species (mostly veileds) to hatch in the next few months. Plus the livebearers - who know when they'll pop! Do you have any baby Rudis left!?!

YEs lots of Rudis! lol Thata a lot of babies wow lol I had 50 veilds hatch one time all at once and 2 month later another 50 it was scarry lol, The live berrors are the best though females start pasing and go darker the day b4 I was unlucky enough to not be home when they gave birth both time errr! aparently its really cool to see, the rudis were eating fruit flies same day they were bourn, but they tend to be pretty sleepy for the first 2-3 days and your gonna freak when you see how small they are. any way some pics of babies i took the other day good luck with all your bums
