I came back from tha lib tonight and found a note on my door sayin that my roommate had fed my BP Loki........ this is strange because my snake just ate two mice on thursday and now its sunday and my roommate doesnt do anything for the snake, like buy food, pay vet bills, clean the tank or anything and has only held Loki like twice since I have owned him...... but aparently the story is one of tha kids that lives up stairs has a semi sick BP with mites, not eating, and bad shedding and so on.... and he was trying to feed his younger sick BP for about 4 or so days now but his bp wont eat ( because he is in shed but he just continued to try and feed him anyway) so he has had tha mouse without food or anything for like 4 days now and then him and my roommate and some of their other friends decided, after having a few drinks mind you that the were gonna take Loki out while i was not there and feed him this mouse that is starving and has been round his BP all tha time, which could have Internal parasites or whatever upstairs in the container that has mites in it from his snake- All of this because they wanted to show off for some girls or somethin ......... trust me i'm pissed ....... can't wait to talk to him after class..... he's deff gonna be payin the vet bill if somethin is wrong wit Loki........ anyone else think that is messed up ??

I think your going to have a case of mites on hand possibly. Snake mites are a host specific parasite but they might have hitched a ride on your friend or the mouse and I'll bet in about a weeks time your going to have a case of mites on your hands.

As far as your roommate goes, I would take some steps to secure the lid of your snakes cage to prevent this from happening in the future. I'm not sure what kind of caging you use, but I'll render a guess that it is a glass tank. I'd try and figure out some way to lock the cage so that only you could gain access to it when needed.

Just as a side note, I don't know how old you Ball python is but it would be better in the long run if you got him eating on rats. Mice are too small for an Adult Ball python.

I changed the subject line of this thread to something a little more appropriate...

Gawd and what about the poor mouse---denying ANY creature it's basic needs to survive comfortably is abuse in my book. What kind of 'friend' is this?! ...sounds like a real jerk.

Yea, I would be furious also. If it was taken from my room i'd also feel violated in a way. Hopefully nothing more then mites turns out from this, best wishes,

Mike

I would definately be choked and would probably treat Loki with nix to be on the safe side rather than wait for it to become a bad infestation wich is a pain to get rid of. The room mate would find his stuff sitting outside by the way!
