Hi Everybody!

My little corn just shed and I noticed before the shed that he had a sort of callous on the back of his head that I figured would go with the shed, but now he appears to have a small colourless spot surrounding a pin-sized hole in his scales. Could this be caused by mites or something, and should I treat him... what are the more common symptoms of mites? He ate a fuzzy few days ago, and otherwise he seems fine.
Thanks for any imput you might have :)

HMMM never heard of that. Could it be a wondering parasite like a worm, i know those can be seen sometimes from the outside. Was the fuzzy live? If so maybe t could be a bite? Not likely tho. HMM.

Hey, It doesn’t sound like mite’s at all, they are tiny and feed underneath the scales you wouldn’t see them due to there tiny size.
Last year my ball python had a fungal/bacterial infection it started off with one scale that looked a bit strange almost like it had a layer on top of it, I assumed it would pass with a shed as well. Then it began to spread the center scale fell off and the scales around it became slightly discolored and a bit swollen, almost as if it were some sort of insect bite. It then began to grow rapidly every time the “hole” in the scales would become a bit bigger and the outside rim would be swollen. Luckily I made an appointment with the vet in the beginning because it spread quickly.

I’m not saying that’s what your snake has but keep an eye on it, if the scales around he whole begin to swell with the whole being slightly indenter and the scales slightly discolored. I suggest making a vet appointment. I treated my snake with “Hibitana” it’s an antibacterial/anti fungal ointment.

Good luck.
