Rack / Rubbermaid Size

Looking at rubbermaid/sterilite tubs for a snake rack, specifically adult ball pythons in the future. Is 24"x16" enough floor space for an adult? How big should it be?

Some use the 24" x 16" tubs and some use the 33" x 16" tubs. I use the 24" ones at the moment but I used to use the 33" ones. I switched over to try something new. I wasn't happy with the way my ball python collection was going and decided to change a few things. I am happy with the way it's are going now. :)

Thanks for the reply. So you don't find it too cramped for a big girl? Do you still put 2 hides in? Or just 1 at the front and let the darkness of the back of the melamine rack act as the other hide?

I don't use hides in these bins. The bin is small enough and dark enough to act as a hide. But this is just what <b>I</b> do. That doesn't make it right. ;)

None of my girls are over 2500g yet.

Find out what works for you. You'll probably end up playing around with things a bit before you get it "right". :)

Thanks again. The biggest snake i'll have at this point is about 1000 grams, so these should be good for now, but I'll play it by ear. If I need to build another bigger rack for some of the bigger girls, that's no problem. I had fun building the first one and it was easier than I thought. Plus it'll give me an excuse to fill those empty bins ;)

It depends on the size of you Ball Pythons; a tub of that size will work for ball pythons that are smaller then 2,500 grams

i use tubs that measure 33 1/2 x 17 1/2 x 5 1/2 for my breeders
