View Full Version : 10 day old Haitian boa, Canadian born
I just got this guy today,
He is one of 7 babies born here in Ottawa last week at a buddy of mines house. The other 6 babies were crushed by mom while everybody was at work(*&(^%%**) Anyway I now get the fun of trying to get it to eat...

Kind of a downer when actually getting a species to breed is the easy part. I really hope that turns out for you. Keep us posted.

Congrats on the little guy. It's a shame the rest didn't make it, but kinda makes this little one all the more precious! o> Good luck with it!

Mardy, I raised 4 from babies that are now over 4 feet, part of Jeff Carson's massive 2000 litter.
I had one on the pump for over 3 years, but it took a good size rat today...
Get yourself an Anole for scenting.. keep it frozen, and bring it at feeding time... I used one anole for over a year, worked great.
They are great snakes, that almost never bite.
I'm hoping to breed mine in 06
Thanks Roy,
The adults are the same ones that gave the massive 2000
litter. I got them from Darren Hamel 2 years ago.
Cheers,

I love my Haitian. The island Epicrates are totally under rated!
Guppy's did it!!
She refused scented mice, dwarf claw frogs. But yesterday
I thought to myself, some of my difficult baby carpet pythons
take food in the water dish to get started.....so I placed
8 guppies in his dish(close to tadpole looking) and 6 have been
eaten overnight.
Thanks again all,(Roy)

Now that's amazing.. never heard of them eating fish, but given all the talk and success with different species using Tuna scenting, I guess its not too suprising.

Guppies can be life-savers - that's what I used years ago to get a pair of Night Snakes (<html><i>Hypsiglena</i></html>) onto pinks.
Fish are scaley and cold-blooded like a lizard, so it just seems like the right thing to try with difficult "lizard-feeders".
Cheers!
