Hi all, I am very, very new to this forum, first I will tell you a little about myself.

I am a veterinary technician specializing in exotic animals, and I worked at a very prominent exotic animal hospital. I am currently finishing my pre-vet classes (3 classes left). When I finish vet school I plan to specialize on treatment of reptiles, specifically snakes. I have a considerable amount of experience dealing with different issues re: reptile health. For example parasitology, nutritional deficioncies, diseases, husbandry, and anatomy and physiology. I feel I can be very helpful to people on this forum discussing various aspects of reptile health. I have treated many species or reptiles, and I and my friend also ran a (very) small reptile rescue. I also know quite a great deal of information about animal toxins (my other career interest)

I am wondering if there is a forum to discuss health issues related to reptiles. If not I would love to start one.

Yea, that would be a good forum, problem is, it might get to confusing. I think that's why they separated the forums into the species so anyone with experiance on that particular reptile could go ask there for questions regarding health problems. I think it's a great idea though, shoot a mod a pm.

It sounds like a great idea.. however the only downside is that of liability. I have heard that vets (or other people) can be responsible for information given on the internet. if something goes wrong, then that vet could get into trouble. not sure if the liability stuff applies in Canada.

Yeah, I used to have to watch out when I gave phone advice because of the whole liability issue. thanks for the responces :)

nat_the_brat: I really like this forum it is very, very nicely designed. It will give me lots to do since IAM has been down. I haven't posted on any regular reptile forums in 2 years.

As far as I know, it is treated the same way as a vet would be without actually seeing the patient, and advising treatment based on heresay. I believe a vet could easily have his/her licence yanked.

We've had the idea of a health forum brought up in the past, but the specific forums aren't *that* busy that we need to branch off as of yet. If we had a health forum some of the species forums may not get hit half as much (considering many of the posts consist of husbandry and health questions), and some may get very few posts as is.
