Hello all....

New to the forums, but have been keeping herps for a few years now. I am purchasing a redfoot shortly (my first), and I just noticed an unfamiliar substrate at the petstore.

named: forest bed expandale substrate (yes...expandable) by T-Rex

claims: 100% organic, highly absorbant, hamless if ingested, expands when soaked in water.

Does anyone have ANY experience with this, if so...good or bad?

I tried that stuff, worked well too, it did what it said it would do it expanded lol. I used that stuff with my skink and he loved it. Since it holds moisture well it was great for high humidity set-ups IMO. My skink did ingest some of it and had no problems i was using that substrate for more than a year and did not have a single problem. Give it a try.

I use some in the bottom of my cham enclosure to help keep the humidity higher, and it works really well. I get about 65 - 75 % all the time, and with a spray it goes up to 85 - 90. Im not sure how high red foots need humidity but if they do need high amounts, this stuff works.

Good luck
