Corn eggs......overdue????

Hi can anyone help ... We've got 10 eggs they were laid on the 7th of august and we thought they would be due to hatch between 6th and 18th of august

We've had them at about 26-27C and at 95% humidity

We've heard that sometimes they need help to get out but its rare!!

Has anyone got any ideas?? Please

If they were laid August 7, I am assuming you mean hatching between 6-18 of October??

If I convert correctly - your incubation temps were between 79-81 F, which is a bit lower than we used, but only high temps seem to cause death loss of embryos. You might expect a bit of delay in hatch due to incubation below 82-84.

Have you candled the eggs at any stage? Were you able to see vein development? It may be worth opening one egg - just a slit near the top will reveal if the baby is alive or not, or if there is any development present. If you find a live, moving baby, you can just leave it - once the egg is slit, they will come out in their own time.

We have had several from clutchs that were fertile that went full term with developed babies - but they just never pipped - themselves. My personal experience is very limited - but seems second or late clutches are not as viable as those laid early in the season.

I would candle them like Mary suggested.

I have had my first clutch take 87 days to hatch!!!! So be patient!

They are probaly just taking their sweet time. Temps are on the low end but OK & humidity is there. Sometimes they take as long as 90 days, but around 60 is usually the norm. Have they started to indent at all yet? This is usually a good sign that the end is near. As long as the eggs don't appear to have gone bad, they probably haven't & it should be very soon. Mark

Yeah, I'd just leave them. We incubated ours in a warm room that ranged 79-85 degrees, and hatched 2 clutches in 64 days each. But, as mentioned, lower temps = more time. Be patient.

they started to indent about 2 weeks ago so we thought great it should be soon......but no still waiting!!!!! it will be 91 days this saturday...how long after that should I leave them if still no sign???
