my sister (rebecca) is away and one of her eggs is hatching. I don't know what to do and I can't get ahold of her right now. and the one she left with instructions is at work.... it is half out of the egg and to me it looks like it is not doing to well.... but I am clueless with her animals. I think it is a crested gecko. my e-mail is glenda_rae@yahoo.com if anyone can help. Thanks

This is Rebecca. I just wanted to say that I'm kinda disappointed no one wrote her to help her. I understand most people ignore the "please help" threads but someone could have at least pointed her in the right direction. And for those who want to get mad at me for leaving my eggs with someone not used to them, I had to go to Edmonton with my parent because my dad worked 18hrs and my mom had to have surgery. I thought I could count on at least one person helping her. I'm sorry if this sounds rude or anything, and I don't expect you guys to do my work for me but I thought you'd help her at least.

I highly doubt people just ignored the post. Most members don't just ignore the 'please help' posts, in fact they're the ones many look at first. Not everyone knows what to do in every situation, and 'it looks like it is not doing well' only tells so much.
I don't even remember seeing this new help post... and I read everything :p did she just edit your original post? Because that wouldn't bump it up for everyone to read...
Finally, leaving eggs with someone is not something anyone has a right to look down at. Stuff comes up in life, that's just the way it is. I'll be doing it myself this Xmas...
I hope the gecko hatched fine and all is well...no need to be so harsh :)

Considering that there were no specific problem indicated except the observation of someone who is unfamiliar with the process of a reptile hatching out of an egg, it would be difficult to answer a post like that in my opinion.
Geckos and other reptiles have been hatching out of eggs for a long time before humans started to keep them. They ought to know what they are doing by now.
Sorry that it went that way and I hope that it turned out okay
I would have helped but I didn't see this post until right now (11:40pm of Friday the 29th). How is the hatchling??

Both babies are ok. I wasn't trying to be harsh, I just got back yesterday after basicly living in a hospital with my mom and dad for almost a week, we had to drive for 6hrs to get home, then I found that out and I just kinda got upset. I know she didn't really say anything too helpfull. I kinda knew she wouldn't I was just hoping you guys who breed cresteds would let her know if she should worry or if things are ok. I don't think she edited the post at all.
