View Full Version : "Burmese" question?
Can you tell me if there is any difference between the Burmese and the Albino Burmese (other than the obvious pigmentation)? I am wondering if one is more docile than the other, and if one may grow larger than the other?
Brightest Blessings!

Same exact snake, minus the melanin (black pigment).
I've heard from multiple sources that the albinos are so inbred that they have additional health problems and shorter life spans. Can anyone confirm this?

The main difference is that you can take a normal out in the sun without hurting it ;)

All albino's originated from Bob Clark's first clutch, therefore the genetic variety is limited. Inbred problems are possible.
Either normal or albino get very large. Here's my largest "Anastacia", check that insane girth! She died some time ago but
was over 300 pounds (possibly the largest after BABY). She was 5...

Hey Jimmy did you over feed that snake or it just never stopped growing?

She wasn't much of an eater. I have no idea why she woudn't stop growing.
That was my ex-girlfriend next to the snake, by the way.

Jimmy that thing is just ridiculous, I want to get one, (mind you I live in a one bedroom and don't have the space right now) but that demonstrates exactly why I can't.
Nice snakes, grow way to large.

She was 21'. The people that saw her had a tendency to say she was 27 or 28 feet, but i never liked exagerations. And we all know that 21 feet on a burmese is a lot.
What kind of snakes do you have now? What are their weights and sizes?

Right now i keep rocks and retics, mostly. I also have a peruvian boa, but it's possible that i might sell her.
None of my current snakes are close to Anastacia's size. The most promissing one is "Midgard", a retic. She's 13' but growing very fast, maybe a 20 footer in the making...
On The others i don't have exact numbers, but i'm not in any hurry for them to grow.
Take care.
