Try saying that three times fast! I'm curious as to the 'smaller' species of snakes on the markets, IE, 'Ball python sized and under' because if I ever did get a snake of my own to care for, it would have to fit in my tiny bedroom, in a rubbermaid on a shelf out of the way where the CAT and PUPPY could not go. (I doubt my roomate would be willing to concede to having a snake in the house, but maybe someday...)

So anyway, any info would be nice thanks! :)

Hey I wish I could be more help but there are hundreds of species of snake that hit that description you just gave. if you want boids (boas or pythons), some suggestions are any of the sand boas, children’s pythons, spotted pythons, hogg island boas, ball python, Amazon tree boa's.

then if you look into colubrid species there are several species of king snake and milk snake. Rats snakes, and of course corn snakes. That all fit your description some will become a bit longer then ball pythons but nowhere near the girth so still relatively small species.

Since it’s your first snake I suggest you look into corn snakes they are fairly small, very hardy and docile, they also come in an amazing number of different variations.
Try this site. http://www.extremesnakes.com/ he has a good gallery to show you what I mean.

Thanks! Actually, corns are my favourite, I've seen a few in person, and a couple other species, but I think they are by far my favourites. I'm going to head down to that forum and look around. Thankies! :w

Hiya spiderlovebites, nice to see another reptile enthusiast from the Windsor area (there's a few of us on this site).

I would just advise you to have a look around the forums and see what smaller snake species interest you. Lostwithin made some really good suggestions. My brother lives with me right now and the only snake that he is leery of is the boa because of her size, The rest of my animals he is fascinated with. I find that alot of people that express anxiety about snakes usually come around after they get familiar with them. Having a smaller species helps lol.
