Anyone know if the Lavender or Carmel albino are morphs on the albino gene? Has anyone crossed them to see?

They are different mutations that aren't compatable. Much like a pied and an albino.

Thanks Corey Just trying to make some sence out of this.

Corey,

Why aren't pieds and albinos compatible?

Thanks

He means if you breed het pied X het albino, you won't get a morph. Same with Lav Albino X Regular Albino, you would just get double hets. Basically the traits are not at the same location in the DNA.

Has anyone created an albino piebald yet? I've been waiting 3 years to see one, I figured there would be some around by now.

Are the snow balls the ones so far showing 2 recessive traits?

I'm waiting for a pastel snow spider piebald, before I buy an expensive ball python.

No Piebald Albinos yet Ryan.

NERD produced an Albino Ghost.

I don't think any morph alleles (different mutations of the same gene) have been confirmed in ball pythons yet but then again there are lots that haven't been ruled out yet either.

Has anyone produced a baby from either caramel X albino or albino X lavender? We assume because they look different they will be different mutations of DIFFERENT genes but until the homozygous animals are crossed we really can't be sure. With dominant type morphs you can also test by breeding the combo – if the spinner, ebony, or pewter animals can’t produce any normals when bred to normals then we can figure that their combo morphs are morph alleles pairs.

I think RDR has tried the lavender X albino cross a couple times now and so far all the eggs have gone bad. It's probably just bad luck and a small sample size. However, if it does turn out that double het albino and lavender is a lethal combination it might make you wonder if they are related some way. If they interfere maybe it’s more likely that they are working in the same area.

Has anyone crossed caramel X albino yet? I think NERD has an imported Caramel looking male that has proven het albino but that and Corey’s het caramels that only produced albinos are actually what got me thinking the two might be alleles. The breeding results I've heard of so far don't eliminate the possibility that they are alleles. I'll admit it's a far out theory and probably not particularly likely but it would be nice if I could find data to either confirm it or rule it out. Anyone up for crossing those two morphs next year? If the theory works out you would get all caramel looking double hets and they might be less likely to be kinked.
