View Full Version : Different Forms of Albino Leopard Geckos
I was recently told that a Tremper albino is the same as a Las Vegas albino but I am not sure if that is the case. This site:
http://www.vmsherp.com/ViewLeopards.htm
suggests that there is a clear difference between Tremper and Las Vegas.
Can someone explain to me, preferably with pictures, the difference between:
Tremper
Rainwater
Las Vegas
Bell
Thanks in advance!

Hi Adam,
I don't know who told you they were the same, but it's wrong.
Rainwater and Las Vegas are the same. The strain of albino was named after Tim Rainwater, the first breeder to hatch that particular strain of albino. For various reasons, the general leopard gecko breeder population decided to re-name them after Las Vegas, the city he lived in at the time. So you'll see Rainwater and Las Vegas albinos advertised, but they're the same.
Tremper albinos are named after Ron Tremper who hatched the first of that strain. Bell albinos are named for Mark Bell, again the originator of that albino strain.
None of these 3 strains are compatible, if you cross any 2 of them, you get all normal looking geckos het for both albino strains (double hets). Same deal if you manage to get to do a triple cross - they'll all be normal looking but hets.
Thank you for explaining... my mistake. Would you agree that the attached pic is a tremper albino?
Thanks,
Adam

Yes that is a Tremper:D There's something about the pattern on Trempers that makes them quite distinguishable.
Julie
Thanks for confirming! :)
