I am posting this here because I don't think that anyone will see it in the reptile society pages. After lots of back and forth, I am interested in hosting a group of like minded Vancouver Island herpers in my house on November 14th, that a Sunday. That is, if there is interest. I live just west of Sooke, and don't have to worry about any parents not wanting snakes around. My husband, on the other hand..... :)

This could be a chance for some of us local snakes people to meet other like minded snake geeks!

I will set this day aside for this purpose, but I would like it if anyone who is interested could email me at
slowsnow@escapesystems.com
and let me know if there is interest. Snakes are also welcome to come. I look forward to hearing from some of you

PS. I have many fur bearing critters in my house too, so people with extreme cat or dog allergies might be uncomfortable.

Well, hopefully some of the island people will see this and reply. I think that it is a great chance, and look forward to meeting some like minded people

Anniesmom, are you a member of the WSPCR? I know there are several members who are on the Island... and there has been talk of starting up a Vancouver Island chapter of the WSPCR. :) Feel free to contact me privately about more information and I will be happy to share with you the names of the WSPCR execs and I'm sure one of them will be happy to help you find some more reptile people over there. :) My email is annieb_mice@yahoo.com
I would be hesitant to invite other reptiles into your home though.... one of your guests might unintentionally bring along a few uninvited "guests" in the form of mites or whatever. There is also the possibility of passing on diseases or other parasites.... in my opinion it's probably not worth the risk. :)
Maybe if you get enough people together, you can each meet at each other's homes and can visit their animals that way. :)
Take care

Thanks Annie, that is a good point! I should have thought of that! DUH! I'll check out the WSPCR website again. Thanks
