I was at my buddy's house the other day and he has a nice sized boa. We measured it at around 5'8". He feeds it twice every month (jumbo rat) because he doesnt want it to become a giant. I was wondering since its still pretty big, is it likely to be a female? Hes been feeding it like that for a while..pretty much since it was little. Sometimes, unfortunatly, he said he even feeds it only once a month.

Also would this boa be considered a nice boa, or just what majority end up looking like. Either way it was a total sweetheart and was really mellow. Real fun snake to handle, and I cant wait until mine reaches this size!!

cant relly tell anything with size because my male it biger then my female

Its 3 years old also. I dont want a forsure answer as it makes no difference :) but would this more likely be a female or male? Considering it is not really underfed, but deffinetly not powerfed.

Do males get this size in 3 years or do they get bigger?

I feed most of my boas at a similar rate. I'm a believer in slow, steady development vs. speed. Their size is for the most part, genitically predetermined, so unless you majorly starve the poor thing, it won't have much impact. Overfeeding only causes quicker growth. I have one Bci here that at 26 months, is way past the 6' mark.

Look for spurs on either side of the cloaca, male and female both have spurs but male spurs are much larger. Also, the tail of the female, in most cases is shorter. I have 1.1 bci of the same size and the male's tail is about double the length of the female's.
But I guess this doesnt really help unless you have another boa to compare it to.

In my opinion, I would say he/she is slighty better looking than your average 6ft boa. Looks to have a lighter background color and more red in the tail than most boas of that size. Take care.

Hey! Thats my boa you've got there!!! Mine is about that size and that color! Mine is only 1.5 years old... I've only fed it every 7-10 days when it was a baby and know i feed it once every 14 days...

I agree that the boa in this picture is much nicer than average. That tail is quite incredible, and the light color is a huge bonus.

Im sure she would produce nice babies, nothing spectacular, but nice. Is it worth it? That all depends on what kind of person you are. I will tell you one thing, you wont make much profit after buyings racks, heat for the racks, food and all that fun stuff. But if you ever want to get serious about breeding you got to start somewhere right? Take care.

Sorry, I wasnt referring to worth it money wise. I didnt want to "waste" my males cleaness and produce babies that are only average.

I just wanted to produce something that was more then average.
