Ok I saw this yesterday on tv and I have just been irate ever since. It was on cops or some cop show where they were responding to a call from some dumb woman. She was screaming and freaking out (seriously) like she was being murdered. All because of a snake that she saw on her porch. The cops didnt see the snake for a while then they spoted it on top the porch roof and it crawls off of that onto a window covering. It was a beautiful black ratsnake about 6' long. The Idiot cops spray the poor thing with mace then they are frustrated because it wont slither away imediately. It does start to crawl down to the railing in what apeared to be an exit strategy and another Idiot cop smacks it on the head with his billyclub and it falls limp. He then hits it again to finish it off. The whole time the snake was showing no defensive or agressive posture and I gurantee that any one of us could have just picked it up by hand. The cops said that they had to kill it because it wouldnt leave and they didnt know how to handle it. This poor snake had to die because this dumb ignorant woman was trippin out and the cops were equally moronic. I was just watching in disbelief yelling at the tv as this transpired. Pretty sadd to see this on tv and especially the fact that the rest of the people watching will think that it was necessary to kill this snake just because it was there.

Is that not animal cruelty caught on tape. Like who are the people producing this. Its absolutely crazy how people will put stuff like that on TV. Makes me very annoyed.

It's based on pure stupidity. It's the same level on stupidity that is used by the people supporting the ban of certain breeds of dog. There's not much that can be done, some people just learn at a much slower rate than others.

It's based on ignorance, not stupidity. You're not afraid of anything? Get over it. We own snakes; we like snakes. Not all people do. Misinformation or lack of proper information leads to fear. Simple.

After my years on this planet, I have simply come to learn that for the most part, people are idiots. What else is there to say? The police generally have no clue what the hell to do with animals in these situations... and they almost always make the WRONG decision. My question is this... do people call the SPCA if someone s breaking into their house or if their car is stolen? HELL NO!! Then why call the cops in a situation like the one in question? Don't get me wrong, I am not always a fan of things the SPCA does... but they *should* be far better equipped to deal with a situation like this. The dispatcher whom this idiotic woman talked to when she dialled 911 for this "emergency" is also a moron as well and should be fired for wasting the time of the police. If the 911 dispatcher had ANY brains, he/she would have directed this brain dead woman to the SPCA or some related organization.
People are idiots.

I bet the clip made the cut because of the comical value of the degree to the womans panic and screaming. It was pretty funny in that sence. However it wouldve actually been funnier if the cops handled it like it was no big deal and removed the snake like it should have. That wouldve really made the dumb woman look dumber.
You're not afraid of anything? Get over it. We own snakes; we like snakes. Not all people do. Misinformation or lack of proper information leads to fear. Not always true. Im afraid of brown recluse spiders. Of course spending a week in the hospital unable to walk and in terrible pain will have a tendancy to burn into your brain. Mostly my fear comes from the fact that you dont see them coming and usually dont know youve been bit till later.

No.

Stupid: Slow to learn or understand. Lacking intelligence.

Ignorant: Lacking education or knowledge. Unaware or uninformed.

You are (or were) ignorant as to the difference between ignorance and stupidity. That does not make you stupid. I am ignorant on a great many topics. There's no shame in that...we all are.

Im pretty sure what i witnessed on tv was a big combination of ignorance and stupidity. Ignorance may lead to fear through lack of understanding. Stupidity leads to the mentality of lets kill it because we fear it.

Ive still been thinking about what i witnessed. Now if that was a vicious dog or bear, racoon, possum, squirell, rabit, skunk, just about anything with with fur the situation wouldve been handled totally differently. The police never wouldve beat one of those to death unless they were being attacked or in danger. If they did there jobs wouldve been at jeopardy and facing potential animal cruelty charges. Why in the hell is that not the case with this. In my personal opinion those cops are guilty. Is anyone familiar with the law as to what animals are protected from abuse or needless killing in this situation?

Cops shoot vicious dogs the minute they feel threatened. Cops should probably receive some basic training on indigenous animals so they know how to respond.
