Hello all,
Well here's my first Erycine, a San Gabriel Mountains Rosy Boa (Lichanura (Charina?) t. roseofusca).
She's just a couple of months old but she's a real looker!

This picture was taken as soon as we got home, she is still a little camera-shy...

She's getting a little more comfortable...

Hmmm, didn't take her too long to model for me... Look at that pose ;)

Hope you like!

Oh man I swear I could keep every local of Rosy Boa going! They are so awesome. I'm at three locals now and these and San Philipes are on the list to.
Cheers,
Trevor

Great snake RM. I am presuming that is one of Roy's babies. I have the other two and could not be happier with them.

Nice pics!

Yep, you, along with Roy and myself, would be the three with legal specimens. Of course, ours are the offspring from Roy's specimens...

Booya! She took her first f/t pink mouse tonight. She had only ever had live prior to being in my care. Awesome little snake!

All of my new ones this year, 1.1 south baja and 0.1 bay of La mid-baja all made the switch last night too! Easy snake to feed. Just another reason why every one needs a Rosy.

Here she is after consuming her second f/t pink mouse since being in my care. I am feeding her single small prey items in order to prevent any so-called "regurgitation syndrome" that this genus is apparently sometimes prone to.
She has a warm, dark hide that she utilizes right after a meal where she remains until she begins actively searching her quarters again.

"regurgitation syndrome"
My female south baja just puked. I always feed mine once every 7 days and never more than one item at a time. I think her cage was too warm. I'm weighting a full 7 days before trying her again.

Gah! Not a great selling point, eh? I am very cautious with my girl and I can only rely on trial and error, I am hoping there will be no error. I think temps, humidity, and stress are the three causes of regurgitation in this genus and they can't handle much of a variance outside of their optimal range.
Right now, since I have had my Rosy for less than a week, I am just keeping my fingers crossed and I will rectify any situation should it present itself.
You're definitely right on the money in waiting a week before trying again. Roy mentions that the syndrome starts because people try to feed to soon. Regurgitation is hard on the animal, not just in terms of energy expenditure (i.e. production of acids and other constituents required for digestion, and then losing them), but there's also the possibility of gastrointestinal tears and esophagitis that need time to heal. If the snake has a good weight to her then there's nothing wrong with waiting a good length of time to allow her to recover, this will increase the likelihood of her keeping it down next time, and thus, the syndrome will have been averted.
Best of luck,
Ryan

She had eaten about three times with me before this happened so it's not like she was just getting started. When I do offer her food again it will be the smallest pinky I can find. I may cut off all the legs and tail too.

Trevor
