has anyone heard of this species?

I was reading through the lizard classifieds on another website and I came across a species I've never heard of. The post read"Azureum" common name "Green thorny tail lizard". apparently it's very rare. There was a pic of the animal with the post. It is truly beautiful! It's bright green with black, zebra like stripes and a tail similar to a uromastyx. I tried looking the name up on the net but I cann't find any info. Has anyone else heard of this species or know where I can obtain more info about it?

The first listed is probably the species you are referring to, though I've never seen one. Plica's and Umbra's have been imported into Canada, though not in great numbers. They are kind of neat areboreal lizards though are very sensitive to low levels of humidity. Plica's get quite large (about 18 inches) and are actually pretty colourful.

I believe the species you are looking for is from Peru, which may make finding them available rather difficult. Peru has been closed doors for the export of native fauna for soem time and has only recently begun to open up quota's again........but I'm pretty sure it's CB only.

Phymaturus palluma from Chile & Peru also comes to mind

They used to be fairly common in Germany some 15 years or so ago. Males can be lime green on their backs.
