View Full Version : burms and uri???
a burm of mine had a really bad respitory infection last year it was taken care of and now she is showing many symptoms of the same infection. show i take her to the vet now or should i wait until the sleep and fast season is over? this may seem dumb that is why i am asking. cuz as dumb as it may be the animal still deserves her proper care.

I'm not sure what you mean by "sleep fast season". Burms don't hybernate if that's what you mean. Mine feed steadily all year round. Take the snake to the vet ASAP. Make sure it is good and warm. Chronic respritory infections require medical attention. The longer you wait the great the chance of your Burm dying.
yes very true thank you very much i am gonna talk to the vet and see if he can simply sell the medication to me cuz i know what it is. so i do not need a diagnosise, also i have already been shown how to give burms and other pythons shots. and for breeding yes they do or most breeders do. it saves money and thermal cycle brings breeding into season for them.

What breeders? I have spoken with some of the top breeders in the world on how they keep their snakes (Bob Clark and Mike Wilbanks just to name a few), and neither have mentioned this. Burmese Pythons are very suceptable to URIs from cold temperatures. Exposing them to cool temperatures in dangerous. It's not about saving money here, it's about keeping the animal properly.
