Hi, I bought a crestey oct. 2 at the edmonton reptile show and since then I posted that he was sleeping on the bottom and you guys said It was normal. But know I moved It into a 21 gal rubbermaid and since then he just lays on the bottom in the open and sleeps. another thing I noticed this morning when I went and opened the lid of his enclosure he tried to run and hide but he could not climb the side of the enclosure? Now any ideas here? All my other cresties have no problems climbing the sides of the 21 gal rubbermaids, and I checked his feet for retained sheds. I threw some crickets in their last night and he ate them fine but he hasnt been eating his fruit mixture . Any ideas? Im really worried and its driving me nuts

well I just went downstairs to feed my snakes and I peeked In his enclosure and he had climbed up the plant (artificial) to hide for they day which releives me a bit, so he can climbe the objects In his home just not the actual rubbermaid. Maybe He is going into shed? I dunno but any comments/advice are welcome

He's likely just going into shed. Mine had a similar problem, and I learned that with Cresties, it's really difficult to tell if they're in shed or not. My boyfriend and I were cleaning his tank one morning, and saw him pulling the rest of the shed off of his tail - otherwise, we would have had no idea. But after he had finished this, he climbed the side of the rubbermade like a pro. Give him a few days, and lots of misting, he he'll likely be fine. Best of luck and keep us posted!

And as for the fruit mixture, try a different flavour. 3 of the 4 at my house don't eat theirs so I keep trying different flavours.

Like everyone has said, your crestie is most likely going to shed. Try to hand feed your crestie some fruit mixture by placing a little on your finger and dab a little on the tip of his/her nose.

I do hand feed him but he is probably 4 months old, Even my 3 week olds take it out of a dish, It just struck me as weird, and I use a fruit mixture that contains peaches, apricots, mangos and bananas And I have never seena crestie that does not love it, mine or my sisters.

Have you tried contacting the person that you got him/her from? One of my females wouldn't even touch fruit when I first got her, and when I talked to the breeder about it he told me that he never bothered with fruit because the hatchlings wouldn't take it anyway. Over time she began to accept it, and now she will eat pretty much anything! :D
At the very least you'd be able to find out what type of fruit might have been fed. Sometimes even one different ingredient throws off the smell that they might be used to and they don't recognize it as a food source in the begining.
