Hey gang
I'm going to attempt breeding my two sumatrans this season
just wondering when a good time of year to start cooling would be and to what temp
I'm really excited but the last thing I want to do is jump the gun
with this intricate process
they are both 5 ft long and I made sure that they both have had good meals for the past 4 weeks
any advice would really help the cause
thanks guys

Hey there!
Dont worry, people will reply. This forum is VERY slow....but VERY VERY AWESOME! LOL. I cant speak from experience(hence I wont answer your post myself or transfer info form another source) as this year will be my first attempt at breeding bloods, but you should check out the caresheet written by Grant VG in the caresheets section. On the home page, in in a little box in the top left corner, in small letters, there is a link that says "caresheets". Click on it, then find the caresheet in there. Its a very good caresheet(IMO). Also, one of the stragetegies I may try this winter, that I have heard is the way to go, is put all my bloods into one big cage(male and females) and leave them like that after a little cooling. Dont follow this strategy unless you hear it from someone else as I have never tried it myself. Also, you can try calling/emailing V.P.I.(Vida Preciosa International), N.E.R.D(New england Reptile Distributors), K.A.N.J.A. , or The Bloodline, as they have fairly nice blood collections and are somewhat "larger" breeders. Im sure one of the four would be willing to give you some info. I know some of the members here have bred bloods before.........so just be patient and they may post. Its no harm in starting breeding late. Also, do you have any idea on the weight of your bloods? How thick are they? Pop-can sized? Two pop-cans? A 2L pop-bottle? HTH(Hope this helps)!

thanks chris
actually it helps alot ive herd of that breeding system before working extremly well with ground boas I know there is no connection beside the fact that they are both snakes but I cant imagine it being too detremental to your reptiles? and I would be very interested to hear the results of your experiment
each snake is approx 22 lbs so once I get a few good meals in them after cooling I hopeing they will be ready and rarn' to go
thanks for pointing me in the right direction anyway
