Vincent Van Gogh is at the top of my list, I am obsessed with Starry night, and have a starry night purse, mug, umbrella, poster, zippo lighter, and the list goes on.
2nd place goes to Gustav Klimt, whose amazing work adorns many of my walls, and 3rd goes to John William Waterhouse, if you have never seen his "Lady of Shallot" series, you must check it out! Further down are Andy Warhol, and Salvador Dali, cause he was really wacked out, and speaking of abstract, I like Walissy Kandinsky a lot.
And many others, still, but I digress...

Salvador Dali for sure. I love really crazy and trippy artwork. I must also say Van Gogh as well. Monet is up there just for his amazing use of color and simplistic scences used.

H. R. Giger the one who designed the aliens from the Alien series. Very explicit art, but interesting nonetheless.

Van Gogh--yes!
His colors (especially viewed in person) are unbelievable. Intense.

Todd Mcfarlane
some of favorite artists includes Sir Norman Foster , Caltrava, Poe, China Mieville, and Thomas Buffington.
just to let you all know.. i dont restrict artists to those that work in paint. ;) the first 2 are architects, the third is a musician, fourth is a writer, and the last is my buddy i went to fine arts school with.. he's a painter. :D
oooh, nice choices guys!
I am hard-pressed to choose even a few favourites! Though I love Klimt, and one of my most favourites is Georgia O'Keefe, who said:
"Nobody sees a flower, really, it is so small. We haven't time - and to see takes time like to have a friend takes time.
If I could paint the flower exactly as I see it no one would see what I see because I would paint it small like the flower is small. So I said to myself - I'll paint what I see - what the flower is to me but I'll paint it big and they will be surprised into taking time to look at it - I will make even busy New Yorkers take time to see what I see of flowers.
...Well, I made you take time to look at what I saw and when you took time to really notice my flower you hung all your own associations with flowers on my flower and you write about my flower as if I think and see what you think and see of the flower - and I don't."
And most definitely, Sandro Botticelli and Claude Renoir!
.....nice, keep them coming----I love to read what all of you have to say.
:)
Gustave Dore is by far my favorite artist and one of my greatest influences in my artwork. My second favorite would be H. R. Giger. Very extreme artwork.
Antoine de Villiers - just looking at her artwork makes me want to head into my studio and create something. It's the most beautiful art I have ever seen.
Robert Longo also creates really beautiful work, filled with incredible emotion. It's quite similar to a lot of my work.
