I just have a question about neonate b.c.i's are they clumsy when they are very young? I have just gotten 1.1 b.c.i's and the male seems clumsy at times. He almost seems to be having problems with his equilibrium he will be lookin up and then fall backwards, now today he seemed fine like his sister so i donno I'm gonna keep a close eye on him for a wile but I just wanted to know if they are clumsy at times. I have never had a boa this young so just checkin.

I've found boas are almost always clumsy. lol! Probably nothing to worry about, I've seen all my snakes climb towards the top of their cages and then fall backward at one time or another.

It looked a little more alarming then that because his head was bent back at a wierd angle almost IBD like :s

eh I've noticed this before especially when they're young. I'd keep an eye on it, but probably nothing to worry about. On the other hand if he's looking straight up for extended periods of time you may want to have him looked at.

Does it look like he is looking or actually bending it backwards? Babies generally have the same abilities as adults do. As MouseKilla said, it isn't uncommon for snakes to fall to the side or whatnot when climbing upwards, but I would be concerned it they are actually curling their heads back. As for IBD, it is very rare and an unlikely culprit for most snakes 'stargazing' and inability to right themselves, but there are many other sicknesses that can have the same symptoms, such as bacterial or parasitic infections as well as toxicemia.

I think it was a neurological thing because his tail would twitch for no reason aswell. So I called the breeder and had it replaced.
