Well, it's Thanksgiving this weekend and I will be leaving my home. I will be leaving Saturday noonish and returning Monday about 7pm, approximately 55 hours. So my real question is, do I take my cham with me or not?

Here are the facts:
[list=1]
My veiled cham, Juno, is about four months old.
He is eating and drinking plenty. He has even started cup feeding. So I can leave some extra feeders in the cup.
I would make a smaller cylindrical enclosure for him tonight. (18"diameter and 2' high)
I cannot take the Reptisun bulb with me.
I have not yet located anyone who is available to come into my apartment to feed/mist him (they are going away for Thanksgiving as well).
I have a dripper set up. I will also add other things to maintain humidity. Temperature is not a problem.

Do you other keepers take your chameleons on roadtrips? Is 55 hours too long to leave a chameleon? I would think the lack of the Reptisun for 55 hours would not cause a problem, but what do I know. There is always the real sun and it is suppose to be a nice weekend.

Some of the relatives/in-laws would like to meet my "icky" pet reptile. But I can always show them pictures while Juno is safe at home. I still may find someone to come in, but I am not holding my breath.

Any thoughts?

You'll do alot more harm with all the stress of traveling and people around him by bringing him with you. He should be fine at home. He is only really gonna go about 16 hours with no attention at home unless you have the lights on all night.

The important thing is hydration. Food is less important. At that age he is prob eating pretty good so a day or two with no food would probably be uncomfortable but not life threating. If you cant offer water then that may be a problem. How long of a road trip is it? Being without the reptisun shouldnt be a problem too.

It's about a 5 hour drive. I would personally love to take him, but not if it too much for the little guy. Heck, I would love to take him to work with me every day, but that would never happen.

The lights are on a timer so they wouldn't be on all night. As for water, I use a 2L pop bottle with some aquarium hose. It works quite well as a dripper (and cheap too!!) so that should last a while. I will drape a sheet over two of the three open sides to help hold the humidity. That and place all my plants in or around the cage and thoroughly soak the dirt.

I was pretty sure it would be better to leave him. Just had to ask.
Thanks for replying.

Well, he did survive the weekend. He was a bit thirsty when I got home on Monday. But yesterday (Tuesday) I came home from work to find he got mauled to death by the cat. Not exactly sure how she got to him or he got to her, but either way I feel like a bag of crap.

I know it was probably painful, but I hope it was quick. All I can say is, this sucks. I'm sorry Juno.
